5.3 and 7004r

im planning on rebuilding my 700r4 myself and puttin it behind a carbed 5.3 (jus a cam swap on motor) couldnt i use the stock trans mount? im jus makin sure because if i have to change it ill get go ahead and wait longer and get a t5 or t56.... thank u guys, there is nothing cooler then a ls based motor in a third gen, it makes ppl double take it a ha ha

You should be able to use the stock transmission mount, since you are using the same transmission, and swap engine mounts should place the engine approximately in the same place. Worst case you may need to slot your cross member, but I doubt it.

if you use the spohn mounts, the motor should sit in the same spot as a sbc. if you're going with the plate type mounts, you'll need to get the 1" setback ones. otherwise, you should be able to use the stock crossmember without issue.

hope you're ready to beef that 700 up, they're not too fond of the bigger horsepower motors. you'll also need to determine how you want to handle the TC lockup, but there's plenty of options out there.

i still doing a carb swap on a 5.3. What trans options do i have controlling the trans? im doing this swap on a very limited budget. i guess i might "have" to buy a t56 lol thank again.

I used it when I had the 700R4/LT1 combo and it worked great. You're also going to need a throttle valve cable but I don't know what to use for a LS setup.

you can technically get the hawks 4l60 crossmember, that is what i did but i had to modify mine a bit. I dont have my car right now otherwise i would take some pics.

Why would you do that unless you're using an LSx 4L60E?

i bought the hawks one for additional ground clearance and trust me it helped out quite a bit. i gained like 2 inches of ground clearance. i will post pics when i can,but my car is off getting tuned.
