anyone get truck brackets to work?

Im on a really tight time frame and i need to get my truck brackets to work with the alternator. If i have to ill make my own mount for where the ac was. But i saw in the truck in thirdgen thread that it was said that some people modify the bracket to make it work. Anyone know how or whats my option.

Im running a carb setup. so waterneck problem wont be a problem

Re: anyone get truck brackets to work?

Some people cut the top half of the alt/power steering bracket off only using the lower half for the power steering. Then make a bracket for the alternator above it that mounts lower so it will clear the hood.

Re: anyone get truck brackets to work?

Mine is actually the stock 87-92 f body alternator in the ls truck bracket, it is a smaller alternator.

So all this fit under a stock hood by chance? What did you do to the bracket? What belt to use? Work with stock LS1 water pump?

Re: anyone get truck brackets to work?

I have a daytona turbo hood, it is about a 2 inch cowl, but it looks reallt close to fitting with a stock hood, it will clear a formula firebird hood for sure. I just knocked out the metal piece in the bracket on the left side and used 2 washers to space it out right and bolted it in.

Re: anyone get truck brackets to work?

that setup will work if you're not using the typical intake/tb setup, but the idler pulley is in the way if you are.
