Hey guys, I'm wanting to get the ball rolling on my LT383 swap and I was wondering if anybody had a "checklist" of sorts of the things I might need? Here's what I have so far....

The block and fully forged rotating assembly of course
A CSR electric water pump
Heads which I'm doing myself until I get the cash for an LE3 setup

This is my plans.....

Single plane Victor jr EFI intake, rails and Edelbrock 1000cfm throttle body
36lb Southbay injectors
Dyno Don Shorties ( I might reuse the 2055's, I haven't decided as of yet)
Building my own harness ( I hate wires, they MUST be clean, lol)
Haven't decided on a cam yet

Other than that what other little odds and ends should I look for? any help would be awesome.

I'm just finishing up my LT1 swap now.

You will need new hoses. power steering hose from the LT1 can be rebent to fit, or take it to a hydraulic shop to have the rubber hose section lengthened to fit. Stock gen1 motor mounts work fine, unless you want to retain the AC. if you do you need to clearance the crossmember and the passenger side motor mount to clear the AC compressor. Headers are the same from gen1. Fuel lines are an issue, you need to get special adapter lines made, make your own, or use high pressure fuel injection rubber hose. The biggest issue will be the wiring harness will need to be adapted.

Other than that its a pretty straight forward swap. Oh, and you will need new tires from all the rubber you will be burning!

For better air distribution and more top end. I want this motor to scream!!! and Black, luckily for me there will be no PS or AC so I'm cool on that front. Another question i have is whats the best year ECU/PCM I can get for this? Another plan for me is to delete the opti and run this distributor...

Not that the opti idea is bad but if I was to get one it would be a Dynaspark opti but they're damn expensive.

Don't buy a dynaspark they have switched owners and now are basically crap. Good read on this on Ls1tech. If you are already going with a electric pump why delete the opti? Gm Opti is running problem free here. I would love to not worry about it but not gonna baby it.

Like the guy above said rad hoses, you can use 4th gen hoses. Just be careful on the upper hose I think I bought a 95 Lt1 hose that does not havve the T for the Tb. Fuel lines, Throttle cable, Tv Cable (If using 700r4), there isn't much to a lt1 swap besides lines and wiring.

Why go with shorties? Go Longtubes.

I'd like to do longtubes but my car sits so low I'd beat the hell out of them.

ODB1 seems to be the prefrence for LT1 swaps. Due to the fact its much easier for a self-tune. Ive heard nothing bad about OBD2, just harder to tune.

Nothing wrong with longtubes, especially if your seeing track time. But if your roads are as bad as they are where I live, you need asmuch ground clearance as possible, lol

Not to be a a$$ but the lt1 intake will support 500 hp about the only car's I've seen that run the single plane is the few in singles.
As for the OBD-I ecm any 94-95 will work.

Yep there's 750hp~ LT1 running a fully ported stock intake. Hell there's a build on ls1tech of a lt1 that can rev and make power to 8000rpm.

Stock intake will be fine. That's what I love about em the best parts come already on the lt1.

All Fbody besides 93 are the same if I'm right. 93 uses diff style fuel rails. Probably the same internal wise. Just send it to LE for porting its inexpensive for $250 if I recall, cleans it up for you too.

92-93 have different fuel rails, but the TB on them makes it easy to run the stock 700-r4.

There's aftermarket throttle bodys out there with switchable linkages that let you go and from 92-93 tv to 94-97. I'm running a 52mm Summit Racing Throttle body that has that switchability to when you realize that a tv cable is not worth the hassle.

Go with a 94-95 Pcm. Tuning is easier and less expensive. I'm running 96-97 since I didn't care much for it.

You make a thread for this yet? Would like to spy on it. I'm doing a Trickflow 185/CC503/Ported Intake setup this winter looking forward for next summer.
