ran the ls1 swapped gta last nite at the track
i went to the track with my car last night. my third pass was 12.502 at 111.86 with a 1.71 60ft. i was very pleased considering it is a stock untuned ls1 with a 85mm mass air, hawks headers,3400 stall. the car needs to be tuned bad, it bounces off the rev limiter while shifting. i was just wondering what other people are running with stock ls1's

Wow, that sound really good for an unopened LS1. I can't wait.

Damn, great times... I would be happy running low 12's with my HCI 350
If this superram setup didn't have as much sentimental value as it does, I would have gone Ls1 after the 2nd engine blew.

Were you the guy that had the same issue I did with the Spohn k-Member and a-arms? I see in your sig you're running the UMI a-arms now. Did it fix the issue? How do you like them?
Also - great job on the track numbers! Must feel nice

I had the Spohn K and A arms and sold the A's and went with UMI arms. It solves the problem.

Nice times. Looks like you were hooking up quite well with those 60 ft numbers as well. Must have put a smile on your face.
Would appreciate knowing what spring rates you are running front and rear.

Good times...What did you change the converter to?
Also with the 4:10's how are the cars street manors? Have you had it on the highway at all? I've been debating over doing those or 3:73's.

I ordered the UMI A-Arms as soon as I saw your reply to my old thread Mkos. poopman was the last reply and said that he had the same issue and was ordering some UMI a arms to see if it fixes it.I guess that's 2 that it's fixed. I'm still waiting to get back to my install, but hopefully it will be 3!

Re: ran the ls1 swapped gta last nite at the track
i installed the umi a-arms, everything is perfect now. i installed a yank 4000 stall convertor in place of the 3400 nitrous convertor. what a difference in performance. i have the qa1 drag coil over kit with qa1 drag springs in the front and brand new autozone replacement springs in the rear. i can cruise 90 mph easy with the overdrive 4:10 gears and 28" mickeys

Wow.. I wouldnt have guessed that time for a fairly stock ls1 motor.that suspension setup is clearly working right for you. Im expecting 13s times out of my car..maybe 12.5 after heads cam intake and tune next yr.Anything faster and Id be happier than a pig in..

Re: ran the ls1 swapped gta last nite at the track
Around here the times a lil bit higher.but yes i know a proper running ls 3rdgen so be a pretty quick car.mine isnt a proper running motor lol.its needing a rotating assembly and then some boltons.even for a hurting motor..its out performs my old 383 hsr setup from a year ago.im more than confident that once built...i can hit 11s.
plus i keep my expectations low and if i blow it out of the water than even better.i havent lost any of the races ive had since doin the ls1 swap compared to my 383.

Re: ran the ls1 swapped gta last nite at the track
A properly running LS1 in a third gen. should easily be in the 12's. With sticky tires and a decent driver you should hit 12.5 or better all day long leaving at 3500 rpm or more. A good set of heads, moderate cam, LS6 intake or fast intake and you will be low, low 11's unless something is wrong with the car or your driving. GO FOR IT!!

Re: ran the ls1 swapped gta last nite at the track
I guess that makes sense if you have a stock or small cam. Congrats btw, those are great times. Reading your posts adds to my excitement over my own GTA getting done. It's a Torquer v2 cammed LS1, 5.3 stage 2.5 heads, LS6 intake, pulley, Hawk's headers, 50+ lb hr injectors, Performabuilt stage 2 4L60E with Edge 3,400 stall, custom Y, Magnaflow cat-back, and Tracey Scott Tuning along with suspension mods, sf connectors, batt reloc. to rear, and tubular k-member.
Tracey says it's a 10 second car but I was expecting around an 11.4 or so the first time out. Seeing your times makes me think it may very well be 10's right out of the gate.
You've done very well. Keep up the good work and be safe in it.

Re: ran the ls1 swapped gta last nite at the track
If you had your "normal" 1.56 60' you'd be easily in the 11's.
You're killing me man, I can't wait to get my swap on the road. I'm running a similar but with a T56 and Monster Stage 2 clutch. I'd be thrilled with a 12.50 while driving a stick, with stock internals. I've got several passes driving my old 383/T56 combo, so hopefully my driver skills havn't left me in the last year!!!
