5.3 Build!
I just bought a 5.3 from an 04 Yukon. I have some ideas on the build. I am trying to build a nice street car. I am not trying to go to crazy but I want to stay in a decent budge. Tell me what you think or if i need to go in a different direction on something.

Stock Bottom end!
1. Stock 705 heads
2. Custom cam/springs/rods
3. LS7 Lifters
4. LS6 Oil Pump
5. LS2 Timing Chain
6. LS1 Intake and Injectors
7. Edelbrock Fuel Rails
8. Nick Williams either 90 or 102MM Throttle Body
9. Hawks Headers
10. Custom exhaust
Let me know what you think!!!!

Re: 5.3 Build!
with the stock intake I see no reason for the TB or even the fuel rails unless you feel your going to need them to feed a monster.
what cam specs?
what cam specs?
Re: 5.3 Build!
For a budget 5.3 Id stick to a stock top to bottom engine with a LS6 or other mild cam. Stock lifters, dont even pull the heads. Stock manifolds or chinese knock-off headers, custom shop special Y-pipe to some 3" catback
No reason for the top end lifters unless yours are shot
GP for a replacement used engine is a new oil pump. It doesnt have to be anything special
LS1 intake, 26/28lb injectors, stock 78mm TB, 75mm MAF all ample to support a decent 5.3
The inlet to your intake is only 78mm and can be ported to a max of 81-82mm, so a 90-102mm TB wont even open properly. Save your money on this aspect
Be careful with the edelbrock rails, most are for aftermarket intakes only and do not fit stock manifolds. A budget fuel rail would be professional products. Use teflon tape on the pipe threads and dont overtorque them, they're not a bad piece for the price

Re: 5.3 Build!
Id do the stainless works(hawks) 1 3/4 headers with the 3 inch collector into a single 3 inch or 3 1/2 inch pipe using a flowmaster merge and some sort of catback. As for the motor I ran a 224/228 in my 5.3 and it sounded and ran very well, for what you have id just get a ls6 intake and port a stock 78mm throttle body. And id go ahead and change the lifters.. Its ALOT less of a hassle changing them on a stand vs. in the car and do the ls6 pump and ls2 chain... My 5.3 with a fast 90, shaved 243 headed and 224/228 cam made 352 in an unlocked vigalante converter 4l60.. So needless to say it was quite peppy. Good luck with ur build op!

Re: 5.3 Build!
Might as well get a ls6 intake over the ls1 as its a pretty decent upgrade. It'll help even more since your going with a mild build
