3rd Gen ls1 front accessories. Still confused on kits.

I have read as much as I can and still not sure on front accessories for my ls motor in my 91 camaro. I know I read somewhere on here that either 19155066 or19155067 would work as someone had done it but most people say no. I would like to get it all at once. I can get the new kits for a little over 700 with air and Hawks wants $850.00 for all front accessories used. I would rather have new. Does any one know if I ordered either kit that most of the stuff would work and it would be just a matter of maybe a different bracket for something.

Having a descriptive thread title and being on the correct forum may help.

Ok I have changed the title. I thought though engine swap would be the place for this. Is it possible you can move it to the correct location?

No problem. Just teaching to fish...

Having only done f-body drop-outs, I can't say from personal experience. What I've gathered is either will work, as long you address the AC compressor/K-member interference issue.

I am installing a spohn tubular kmember so maybe all will be fine.

There is an LTX and LSX engine swap subforum (where this now is...).

Tubular K-member should solve the AC interference issue. But, you might want to check the complaints recently about the Spohn offering.

Oh that totally sucks. THought I was going the best way on this. Now it looks like spohn kmembers might not be that great after all.

Re: 3rd Gen ls1 front accessories. Still confused on kits.

This might be helpful. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...-corvette.html

19155066 is patterned after Cadillac CTS-V (LS2, I think). It does not fit. I can't remember the reason exactly and I don't have a bookmark to the thread where I learned that. I think the alternator clashes with the steering box.

19155067 is patterned after Corvette LS2 engine. Everything will fit except A/C. You need Corvette water pump with correct spacing to line up with pulleys. Factor in that cost since Covette water pumps are expensive.

F body style accessory drive is needed to use A/C, along with notching the K-member for clearance of A/C. Parts are not interchangeable with Corvette because spacing away from engine is different. F body accessory drives are no longer made or sold through GM dealers. You can buy a kit from Nook And Tranny but it is very expensive. Otherwise, 'used' is in your future. The GTO A/C bracket is interchangeable and can be purchased new.

Truck accessory drive is possible only if using carb style intake and a huge raised cowl on the hood to provide top side clearance.

Re: 3rd Gen ls1 front accessories. Still confused on kits.

I have read all of that. I guess I am just dense. So I guess if I go corvette, buy a corvette water pump, and maybe someone could fabricate a bracket for the ac. Hawks is just too expensive with 850 for there used stuff. If the only problem with the 66 kit is the alternator that would be an easy fix as several people sell alternator relocator brackets. I have tried around where I live and no one will sell just the accessories off the ls1. No cheap easy way I guess then. Qwktrip I do really appreciate your post.

Re: 3rd Gen ls1 front accessories. Still confused on kits.

Instead of relocating the alternator it is probably easier to use the Corvette kit (19155067) and relocate the A/C. You can re-use the 3rd gen A/C compressor at the same time.

Or you can see how lucky you are and make a 'want ad' post at LS1tech.com for a complete F body system. I finally resorted to just that after I became frustrated trying to find a decent set for sale. It was only a short while when somebody offered me a new kit they never used. I got lucky. Maybe you can too.

I did post there. Hopefully I will get lucky too. What did you end up paying for the whole thing.

Plenty, but quite a bit less that buying from Nook and Tranny.

$850 used from Hawks is a rip off. That's the price of new.

Pretty much everything they sell is way overpriced.

Re: 3rd Gen ls1 front accessories. Still confused on kits.

i pieced together my 4th gen fbody setup from the classifieds on 'tech and from a few members on here. i think i ended up somewhere around $450-500 for all accessories and brackets needed for the job (some new, some used). i dont run ac, so no other modifications necessary.

I guess I just need to be more patient as no luck in the adds yet. Hard to find as they are putting ls motors in everything now including the Mazda Miatta.

Re: 3rd Gen ls1 front accessories. Still confused on kits.

I just recently bought all accessories from the parts classified on tech ($450 shipped minus AC). Patience is def the key with this build. Just check daily. You never know what is going to pop up. I've scored a lot of deals on both tech and ebay. It's more of a waiting game if you have the time. I still have a list of parts needed that I have in front of my while on the computer. GL!
