trans to 5.3
does anybody if this trans will bolt to my 5.3 "24208421"? i know its a 4l80e but when i punch in the numbers I'm finding some things that says its for a diesel motor.... I'm supposed to be picking this up this weekend but if its not going to work I'd hate to waste my money. i asked in the trans section and some said i should ask in this section since its an ls motor.
thanks

You will need a spacer for the flexplate. It would also be a good idea to get the lower bellhousing cover with the bolt holes to the oil pan if it doesn't have it already.

I'm not completely sure about the controls. I've heard stories (about which I couldn't begin to provide detail) about different "E" transmissions needing different programming to properly control them. For sure if you get an aftermarket TCM for it, you won't have any problem.
A 4L80E is a lot of tranny for a 5.3. You planning power adder?
Oh, here's a pic of the lower cover I mentioned. P/N 15765623. The guy who did the LS swap in the S10 Blazer my son bought used this on the 4L60E.

Re: trans to 5.3
thanks five7, ya i'm shooting for 850rwhp. i havent started building the 5.3 yet I'm still collecting parts and finishing the cleaning/suspension/paint of my camaro. I'm going turbo, havent decided on dual or single yet either. i started a complete car build in "members camaros" and just a motor build in "power adders". its going to be a fun ride
I've been trying to get the small stuff out of the way before i start making the larger purchases. thanks again for the info it is always welcome and appreciated.

Ah, I don't spend much time in those forums.
I did a quick search on the p/n you posted. Apparently that is the case casting number, and was used for many 4L80's over the years. So, exactly what you have is still in doubt. Did it have a metal tag on it with other #'s?
I would guess you are going to use a specialty built torque converter, and probably a pretty hefty flexplate, so it really shouldn't matter what it came from - just tell whoever you get those parts from what you're attaching it to. The controller, though, still needs to know what parts were stuffed into that case. I would guess again that you'll be doing some specialty programming for this beast.

Re: trans to 5.3
thanks again for the info. well this trans supposedly came out of a full size van and is in great condition but i plan on taking it up to a tans shop here in town and having them go through it to make sure its' going to hold up. that will be down the road though as I'd like to get it all put together and basically done first. i was just a little worried if it would fit in my car and bolt to that 5.3.

My LQ4/4L80E came out of a 2003 3500 van. I haven't split them yet, but most likely it has the same case number. So, if the one you're looking at came out of a similar van, then you shouldn't have any problems getting it set up. I'm not going to be pushing anywhere close to 850 HP, though.
