lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
hello all!! I'm new here but not new to automobiles nor fabrication.
I have a 90 camaro rs, It's been in my family since 91. About 6 years ago my father took it into Sears for a quick oil change before going to a family reunion. When he left, it got about 3 miles down the road and it started smoking like a train so he went back to Sears and they drained 5 of the 10 quarts of oil back out of it.....good bye piston rings.
They refused to do anything about it so its been sitting for 6 years waiting for me to play with it.
I have huge plans for this thing starting with the motor.
I am swapping in a lm7 from a 2003 burban and 4l60e from a 95 impala ss.
Coil over suspension with tubular A arms
Shaved bay
Cage
2010 camaro tail lights
And boost!
if anyone has done this or is in the process, can anyone provide me with info(a very detailed drawing) of the mounts you are running? I want to make my own mounts.
My goal with this car is to buy the least possible.
If anyone can help me that would be amazing. ! I will post pics of the car ASAP.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Overfilling the crankcase did not wipe out the rings. It just pumped more oil into the combustion chamber. It would clean out fairly quickly if it was just driven. Might need to change the spark plugs due to oil fouling, but that's about it.
Now, LM7 is an LS-series swap. So, read the sticky. Pay particular attention to the link about starting with a truck engine.
The '95 4L60E isn't the best idea, as the Gen I/II crank-to-front-pump spacing is slightly different than Gen III. You either need a spacer for the flexplate, or a torque converter made for a Gen II transmission behind a Gen III engine.
Many people have done what you're talking about. Read the sticky and search the LTX and LSX engine swap subforum (where this is now). If you want to do boost, then check out the Power Adder forum (just don't plan on scrimping with that part).
I hope nobody has done Gen V tail lights in a 3rd gen, but that's probably been done, too. But, it wouldn't be detailed in the Engine Swap forum.

Re: lm7 into 90 camaro. mount question.
mount part numbers/info can be found here:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...und-these.html
or you can look around at the 'tech forum, believe someone posted up measurements on that page

You're going to have to find an LS1 intake and LS accessories, the truck setup wont work in the 3rd gen

Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
are you still gonna put in 5th gen tails? please dont they wont look right. also you used solid mounts basically and you are still using all the truck accesories?
Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
I have seen the tail light conversion done and its sexxxy!!. Yes, I made solid mounts and I am keeping everything on the Motor as I received it except the fan.
Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
got the manifold done and someone already bought it.. another one in the works though.

Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
Looks good I'd be interested in some pipes too. Why manifolds did you use on the motor?
Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
If you guys seriously want a manifold email me. Accordlxrj@AOL.com
I have 1 left that some one is supposed to be picking up this week. I have been making a couple at a time and if you want them I need to know how many sets of flanges to order.

Im so keeping up with this. I might be interested in a set of manifolds and so on but want to wait to see the end look as im pretty picky as to the way I want to run it

I emailed you about a week ago for a price on that piping and motor mounts and have yet to hear back from you

Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
Well I'm back at it. I decided to go with the ls1 intake manifold so that meant putting a ls1 water pump on and that meant switching everything over so I'm going to fbody relocation but I'm going to make all my own brackets. My goal with this build was to not buy anything except the motor and tranny and fabricate everything else unless it was impossible. Here are some pics.

Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
look at what i did to my truck water pump on my build link in my sig. Its a lot cheaper to run the truck stuff.
Re: lm7 into 90 camaro and boost...pic heavy
I'm not going for cheap. I wanted to replace the water pump before I put it together anyway and I'm making the alternator bracket so really the only extra expense is going to be the balancer. I'm not sure about ps yet cause I really want to put a pinto manual rack under it.
