You can use a truck harness if you like but you need to be careful what year truck harness you get.Same with using a truck ecm.But if you plan on buying a ecm seperately then get one from a vender that will have a better base map for what you will be running.I bought mine on ebay i think from spareecm and just told them what motor i was using and what changes I needed. It was cheap too.
Pinouts between the truck vs car harnesses arent a major deal aside from the normal mods needed to be done for the swap in general.Start reading the stickies in here instead of those youtube videos as the stickies are more direct of where to make your connections in the car for full functionality.
As far as removing connectors.. small simple flathead for some of the security locks and then squeeze and pull lol.

Re: LS6 swap but need adivce
thanks for replying! i did reread the stickies again and i remember some where last time i read i seen which truck pcm i need but cant find it now, any way you can steer me in the right direction?
EDIT: i did some research and seems like they covered using a truck LS motor with the ls1 wiring harness but not what im lookin for, or atleast thats what i think. i need to know which truck harness can i use for a LS6.

To make a truck harness look anything but a disaster under the 3rd gen hood, you'll have to strip and rebuild it. Which method you use is irrelevant as the end is result is the same. No truck harness will work on a car style intake without changes, no getting around that, so buy the cheapest LSx harness you can get your hands on and go to town

ahh ok see theres my answer haha alright well ill do some lookin around for a car harness i've also thought bout goin the carb route are there any difference in hp and tq between the two if the same engine had everything the same but one had a carb and the other was fi?
Re: LS6 swap but need adivce
For the camaro half of the harness, you need one from a 90-92 Fbody. V6, TBI, TPI does not matter
The body pinouts changed year to year, so you have to choose one within a year range. Going outside the range will still work, but you must repin them prior to even using them. Not fun

The wiring seems intimidating at first but it really isn't that difficult. Plus, with fuel injection you'll drive the car more and love the throttle response and economy. I've out more miles on my LS1 swap this summer (~3,000) than I ever did with the carbed old sbc engines I had in the past.
