Re: My 1989 IROC LS1/4L60E swap
I did get some other goodies.
My new 120A alternator. It solved my pulsing lamp issue and I swear the car runs better

Also found a guy in Washington that had these rocker emblems. I bought red ones as well. We will see which color works best with the paint.

And lastly got my Koni Yellows in. The rears are installed, Just waiting to get the fronts installed and swap front springs again.

Also snagged this BRAND NEW dash Face!

Other than that, Still saving for paint.

The AC bracket and adaptor were all I bought. The PS and everything else is all stock 98 Camaro LS1.
Just search the part numbers in the pic on summits web site and read the instructions. It will lead you to the correct adaptor bracket for whatever water pump and stuff you are using. The bracket, Adaptor, Two extra pullys and belt ran right at $300.00

Howdy Fellas, I havnt been here in a while and had a question.
As far as the factory tachometer in the 89 Iroc, What are the diferent methods to getting it to work with the LS? I sent mine off to a guy in Louisiana to have it fixed and when I got it back I found that it only reads 50% of the signal. Come to find out, The LS V8 signal is the same as a 4 Cylinder. So that makes sense. Question is, Are there any other solutions to getting the factory tach to work?
I have looked at the DIP Switch box that is sold by Abbotts.
http://www.atrol.com/order.htm
This little box (an ERA) costs $180.00. Are there any other alternatives? Thanks as allways.

Re: My 1989 IROC LS1/4L60E swap
Started putting the LS together and Well, seems either the books are wrong or the torque wrench is off. Got the oil pump on and .002 gap around the shaft and wouldnt you know it!!! The books call for 18 ft lbs on this little bolt that holds the oil pump pick up tube to the pump. I may have gotten 10-11 lbs and snap!! Figures!

This same thing happened to me while I was changing out a transmission filter. Barely twisted it on there and SNAP. As I was drilling it out, I also got a metal shard in my eye and had to go get it carved out. Needless to say it wasn't fun. Sad part, is I was wearing safety glasses. I think it was stuck to my shirt or something....

Metal in your eye is never good, I hope you healed ok.
No real updates on the Rock. haven't had much time to tinker. Have been taking it to a few body shops but they are nuts! 10K + to paint the car 3 stage Ruby Red. In my frustrations in trying to find a good but reasonable body shop I think I may hold off on finishing it for a few years. Some things are just not working out and we may need to find a new House. Which means The money that I had saved for paint may need to go towards a down payment on a house. Not the way I wanted this to go down but if I do that I will have a garage so That's a perk!
We'll see what the future holds and someday RubyRock will be complete.

Re: My 1989 IROC LS1/4L60E swap
Well, It's been a while again. Finally got moved into new house and getting settled in. Hoping to get going on the project again soon. While I am still looking for A painter, I am also debating Wheels and tires as well as a Power adder. I have everything to install Nitrus on it I am thinking of not going that route. Looking into a Whipple or Magna charger.
Has anyone here known of a build with either of these set ups? Would love to see clearances. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Looks real nice! Much better metallic, color, and shine than GM ever put on any year of thirdgen.

I've been working on this tur for 14 years now! I hope to get to drive it again soon!
Sadly it seems all of my pics I had were on my old car club website which is no longer so they are gone............................ I will need to post some newer pics since the first paint job did not work out. $6500 down the drain. Never use an aquaintence for a CASH JOB !

This was the color it was supposed to be.
Bad body work and the paint is the wrong tone. Lack of coverage made it very brassy.
