Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
Got it to idle , mess with hptuner for hour or 2
Increase idle to 900 and around 1100 when cold
Adjusted idle air flow
Thinking of getting stock maf sensor to see as I'm running ported ends and no screen and I hear it increases tuning difficulty
All and all it idles then when engine idle drops to 800 and below engine starts to backfire here and there and starts adding fuel well more like dumping fuel
Some pics of narrowband and STFT
During scan engine runs fine till like said above then you see why it starts to backfire some cells are +25 , from what I seeen +/- 3 isn't too bad but damn lol will play with it more but that's where I'm at now
So small step forward and victory lol

Figured out why I was leaning , don't use Allen header bolts doesnt create a good seal for header , going to dial it in some more in coming days was trying to tune around it so I'm start from scratch to see if it be closer to how I like
Ran from cold to 220 no back firing at all till it reach around 220 and it backfire here and there
Next step is to hit the street and dial in STFT and LTFT ,PE

Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
So even tho engine sound good just didn't sound right
I still have dead cylinder #6

So plugs look rich and some look lean I think because since O2 sensing a lean condition due pcm dumps fuel then take it out then dumps fuel again then takes it out as when I look at my scan the STIT jump from 0 to -50 to +50 back and forth which didn't seam right and running that is impossible
Going to run this weekend when I get chance hopefully I cured the issue as now I'm getting spark
It was due to the fact that the harness Pin #28 was push in and when harness was plug up it never made contact with pcm so hence no signal I feel like a idiot not checking something so simple lol but I slide pin back down and rep lug to pcm now I get spark sigh was getting really frustrated and took 3 day break to refresh

Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
Well to replace clutches kind of dictates a rebuild, This is not a difficult trans to rebuild just a few special tools but the pump rotor could have been cracked. The torque converter snout slides into and drives the pump rotor. I believe that if you push the converter too far you can break the pump rotor. Had the car been driven yet?
I am working on mine now with the intent of using the 4L60E and don't want to have any trans issues. I'm hoping for 400+ RWHP I hope it can handle it.

Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
I upgraded my trans myself and built it , difficult part s is removing it and installing I do everything thing myself and haven't had another body to help lol which makes it a long tiring day
I'm referring to the previous owner stating it was rebuilt
IMO just throwing new clutches in and calling it a rebuilt trans with out making the need modification updates at a minimum is just considered a freshen up tranny to me and far from a rebuilt tranny
All in all its a easy fix but I just don't have the time to put into trans which I know I can do I rebuilt it already and wait for parts etc etc so just decided to take to a trans shop to do it in 1 days time and with it being a busy weekend already just seem to be the right choice for me
I already aware of what to do with converter as far as clearances but you are correct with a improper installed converter jacks up a pump instantly
Just upgrade 3-4 clutches and do a shift kit to take care of some weak points in trans get a very good tranny cooler and run AMSOIL atf synthetic and should be fine

Oh yeah I agree with the Amsoil and cooler I plan a complete overhaul. I have done many other trans overhauls (All Ford transmissions and GM 3 speeds) but not the 4L60 series is it a big deal, I plan to do this one myself with upgraded internals and a Vigilante converter.

No it ls real easy just need about 4 tools it's not big deal , I would rebuild another one but just don't have the time or trans would sit for another 2 weeks or so

Which tools do I absolutely need? Just looking at the tool list makes it look more advantageous to have it done. Heck doing the old Ford AODE took just a few tools, this thing looks like a whole tool box is required. I know some stuff you can improvise but some pieces appear to be needed.

Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
Mainly the rear clutch and and input spring compressor EBAY has them for under 40 there deep in case so it needs a specialty tool some feeler gauges to check clearances long flat head and some picks that's pretty much it
Just pick up trans from shop
If you have the time to do it the do it it's easy me personally I like to have that feeling I had my hands on everything vs having shops do everything for you , I will build another again someday

Very sharp, what are those tire sizes?
Are you putting the trans in and out with the car on jack stands? How horrible is that job?

255 and 275/35
There Hre 590rs
Yes putting tran in and out on jackstands
I won't say it horrible but it takes me like 4-5 hours too pull it out myself and same amount of time to put back in
It's just very tiring doing so I won't say horrible if I had help could probable do it in half the time

I have to pull mine out, have a 4th gear syncro issue which is why I asked.
I was going to do it in the garage on my own, but I figured I would wait until April, I'm headed to a new base where they have a really good auto hobby club with a lift.
I read you are in the military, I've been in the Canadian Army as a medic for over 8 years with a combat tour in Afghan, I've just switched over to a nice cushy Air Force trade working on aircraft so I'm back in the training system. (Hijack over)

I removed my 700R4 last weekend on jacks, about 4 hrs. They aren't as easy as they were when I was 25 years old, and seems the 4L60 is heavier than the 3 speed autos.

Those wheels are sexy as can be! Wish I could find a cheap solution to my gauges for my gta. Oh well I'll be happy when ohio decides to warm up and I can get my swap buttoned up. Swaps looking good the keep it up!

How much are you budgeting for gauges? Take a look at my swap thread, I used speed hut gauges, custom built for order, digital with the analog look and a great price for the quality, super happy with them, they look like a really nice stock set in a trans am, perfect fit.

My plan is to install performance band and clutches ensure it has the stronger 5 pinion planetaries and sun shell 13 vane pump and a Vigilante torque converter. I want it to handle whatever I throw at it (within reason). It will be a street driver with maybe some strip use.
Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
Duuude.. Nice wheels! Almost exactly what I will be going for, except way more $$$ lol. I was looking at the TSW Valencia's... Half the cost of new HRE's.

Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
That's the only part I don't like.. only coming as a 9.5". I WANTED to go to 315 (I'm going to need it for my build), but will have to settle for 295's... maybe 305 if I don't mind the slight bulge... I don't know.
I've got 17x8's right now with 275's on the rear and they fit surprisingly well.. very little bulge and perfect tire contact. /shrug

Re: Craigslist Searching + My Apartment Room + LSx = ?????
I had rolled rear fenders awhile back ago when I had 18x11
These don't rub what so ever in pic above rear end isn't aligned I just installed a adjustable Panhard bar so we correct that when I get a chance
Took her for a spin around the block and WOW Really feels like a modern car now well even better than a modern car can't wait to step on it has and brakes and carve some turns , last time I drove her i only had stock tpi and sportlines and wider wheels , but now with everything it feels totally different

From that pic it sure looked like it would rub. Glad it doesn't. Sure looks good man. I bet that is a great feeling. I'm putting my LS stuff together right now, and I'm looking forward to that feeling.

Yea I haven't driven her for 2 years and just been completing the swap here and there as one allowed or shall I say as much Uncle Sam lets me off the lease lol it's been very slow process , it started in my apartment working on her in rain and out side parking area but now live on base and have garage so it's more easier and where I'm stationed at I just luck out having a lot of free time so it's very good feeling kinda like a kid in a candy store lol
Kinda mad cause I wanted to drive her this weekend to do some more datalog and tuning but I'm in the field all week lol sigh
Your car looks far cleaner then mines as I started on performance upgrades vs beauty , so I'm kind of embarrassed on cosmetic part but that will be my main focus for now since all performance upgrades are done
What you have plan for your LSX swap
