Truck Alternator + F-Body Bracket

Hey all - finally got the motor in for mock up and drilled and tapped the block for the fbody alternator bracket. Was excited to get it bolted on but ran into this (see pic).

Anyone running a large body truck alternator on a third gen swap? The back of alternator and charge post hit that kmember brace.

Ideas? Note the alternator still needs to go back about a half inch.

Re: Truck Alternator + F-Body Bracket

I am running one, but with a tubular k-member. I would notch or remove the brace to get it to fit. Most of the tubular k-members I have seen do not have the brace anymore, unless you go with the road race unit so I would say go without it.

Remove the brace. If you have a spohn K-member, you must cut the bracket off

Re: Truck Alternator + F-Body Bracket

I figured removal was the solution. That brace looks pretty flimsy anyways. Thanks for the help guys!

Re: Truck Alternator + F-Body Bracket

If using a low mount AC compressor, the pass side bracket goes away as well
