cant find LT1 headers???

I have been reading around everywhere and I keep seeing people say to get the Hedman 68479 headers but the problem is no one carries them anymore. Does anyone have a part number for a shorty header that will work on a 89 firebird with the LT1 swap plus could they be stainless steel too please

Re: cant find LT1 headers???

Lt1 is pretty much same thing as a sbc, any thirdgen shorty should work

all the ones I have found are round port and not the D port though. Will they still work?

Re: cant find LT1 headers???

Any SBC based headers should work without much issue.

From an exhaust port standpoint they are identical.

I'm using Hooker 2210 Long Tubes with my LT1 T56 swap.

Re: cant find LT1 headers???

You may have a hard time finding LT1 swap headers.
Here are the part numbers I had saved from when I did my swap.
They aren't stainless though.

Hedman 68469- long tubes
Hedman 68479- shorties
Hedman 17478- y pipe for shorties

You will have to weld o2 bungs on either option.

After a quick search Jegs appears to have the long tubes.

My opinion of the "can't find LT1 swap headers" argument is that they aren't marketed as swap headers because anything designed to work for a SBC/Auto/Manual combo will work with the addition of the O2 Bung. Basic hot-rodding works.

For Gen2 LT1's its pretty much add a O2 bung and get to wiring.

I have SLP 1 5/8" shorties (not for sale). They have square ports and are 409 SS.

I haven't heard of a third gen SBC header NOT fitting a LT1. Yes, the ports are different, but go with a 1 3/4" exhaust and it will be fine. Even a 1 5/8th will still technically work, and probably not be all that bad off.

I had a set of Hooker 2055 shorties on my LT1 and had no problems at all. They fit with both the 4L60E and T56 as well as the later 2210 LTs I installed.

Re: cant find LT1 headers???

I was looking at something like these or around that price range for now till I am able to afford to have a better exhaust system done. Will these work correctly?

Amazon Amazon

this is about the most I want to pay for them atm
