EXCELLENT!!! I only have 3 problems with it...
1. Wheels, get some ROH's or even polishing the wheels you have look REALLY GOOD but it takes a lot of work
2. Get a 91 92 Z black grill off of ebay
3. paint hte headlight pockets black

VERY NICE THOUGH!!!

Very nice looking... I agree you should paint the headlight pockets black. Good job though

That is an awesome job. I'd be interested to know a little more detail on how you did it/how long/what products?

My RPO's show my car as having red wheels, and of course the '89 RS's came with body colour headlight pockets, which I think look better than black.

More info on the job please

My plans do involve changing out the grill and painting the headlight pockets so i agree with ya....

process was to keep a bucket handy with 1000 grit sand paper and keep it very wet. after i would sand for a pit to knock alittle shine off i would wash it down so i could see and dry it, then i used 3M cutter to rub out the sratches caused from sanding. then i used mothers polish and buffed then waxed!!! It took me 8 to 10 hrs to finish.... but heres a pick of what it looked like before I did it to show you it paid off!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two questions:
Is it a clear coat finish?
Did the 3M cutter take at ALL of the fine scratches from sanding?
Thanks, Aaron

clearcoat had faded off and pealed away from most of the car so thats why i had to sand and use 3m . i sanded most of the clear coat off.. plan of replacing later.............

I think that looks amazing, and shows what a good job can be done with wetsanding....I'm going to try a small, flaked clear area of my Bird as soon as I get home from work today. Thx for the inspiration!

Wow, that's unbelievable. Can someone spell this process out to me? What's up with the 3M products? Someone else recommended I use a 3M product only when I start, but didn't really clarify it. Also, if anyone had swirl marks on their paint before, did this help in the least?

Thanks, I'm really looking forward to doing this ASAP!

Looks good. Does wet sanding take out scratches? What makes it better than just polishing?

ok... now i'm hooked that paint just looks awesome. i have a lot of oxidation on my hood and some on the bar behind my t-tops and some paint is peeling back there. would this resolve those problems or is there something else i could do other than a new paintjob b/c ur's looks pretty damn new to me.

I took 1000 grit paper and a bucket of water first...started sanding, keeping the paper VERY wet...every now and then, drying off the spot to have a look at how it was going. After it was sanded considerably, I took Mothers' ALUMINUM Polish (that stuff can do ANYthing), and buffed it out...looked amazing. Haven't done much of the car, just a small spot here and there..but WOW, what a difference!

What is "3m cutter"? I cannot find the product on 3m's website. Thanks
