testing new line lock
trying out the line lock for the first time to see how well it worked with shitty tires.. pretty good I think.

Re: testing new line lock
Hehehe, NICE! I had to "break in" my new 18's the other day with my line lock. I always cringe thinking about the cost of tires afterwards, but hey, part of the fun of our cars is melting the hides, right? I don't think my girlfriend's dad and brothers were expecting the 40' long patch I laid down in front of their driveway though :P
nice video for sure

Sweet video brisk...i need to get me a line lock, i normally go 1st, fast to 2nd, then swap my left foot over to the brake and let them roast....line lock would be a lot easier...lol.

Re: testing new line lock
I just installed front C5 vette brakes, so I figured since I had to bleed the system anyway, I may as well install a line lock.

Nice burnout. Line locks are a lot of fun. Where did you put the switch? Mine is under the headlight control ****.

Re: testing new line lock
I mounted it under and to the left of the steering wheel for the time being.. I didn't want to drill any holes until I found a spot I would like to keep it in.
I don't like the idea of having to take you hands off the wheel, one to shift, and the other to hold down the button. I'm currently looking for a nice shift **** with a button, but it looks like I'll have to modify my own since I can't find what I am looking for.

While I don't know exactly what you're looking for in a shift ****, I know I've been very happy with my Hurst "sidewinder" shift ****. It's got the 6-speed pattern on it for my T-56 and it has a switch built in that I have wired up to my line lock. I don't know for sure if they have one with the 5-speed pattern, but I think they do. Here's a picture of mine...

Re: testing new line lock
yo brisk, says you're runnin a manual.. hurst has a button that you can put on the shifter stick.. i think summit has it too.. i got it and i hold it down with my middle finger.. a switch would be another option..
nice burnout btw.. oh, and nice magneato's.. i used to have set.. but those damn lug holes are too small on mine.. i'll be getting them drilled out and then powdercoated black.. then a cheap drag radial on back with a bfg up front..

Re: testing new line lock
yea I'm running a 5-speed. I've gone through several shifter ***** and found I like the straight up and down style the best, t-handle second... but the t-handle just looks so out of place inside my car.
I've been looking at this one, but I'd like to see one in person, or at least a better picture; http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...ubcat=5&pid=93
I've seen some pics of Magneto's on a second-gen with the blades and center powder coated black and they left the ring/lip polished, it looked really good!

The switch I am using is not monetary. So you can always have a hand on the wheel.

Sweet Video, I like the racks of tires in the foreground. Adds a nice touch!
BTW that exhaust sounds sweet too - like nascar comin' down the road.

Re: testing new line lock
do they make a kit that you can put on the rear drums to lock them up.
is it unrealistic, im wanting to get my rpms up before i leave the line. i kind of want to go this way bc i dont know what converter i can run and get the rpm stall at the line that i want since they are rated differently then what you think. and its a street car, dont want to really suffer driveablity.
