Hi folks, new here, bought me a ratty new friend...

I give you, Frankenmaro ...

It's an 86' with a 350 TPI stuffed in it (TPI sytem is sewn together from hopes, dreams and paper clips... it was once carborated, the lower end is supposedly built up), it's got an 87 hood and hatch on it. With the 86 winglets still on the quarters.

The history is about three owners in a row putting money in the engine and starting some body work, abrasively cleaning the interior and giving up.

I'm sure she looks like hell to most here but it was either snag her for 600$ or watch the body and frame get tossed, real mongrel but for some reason I like the car.

For now the main targets are safety/drivable ... pitman arms to spindles coming out, it's go new brakes but the master cylinder seems sleepy plus it needs a detent cable. other than that it's drivable!

Then it's LOTS of sanding and LOTS of interior work... and since it's raining I find the drivers side top corner of the windshield leaks

Should be a long expensive spring

Well my thoughts are to get it squared away as far as running well, as I said it's already had from the pan to heads, I have to assume wiring harness for 5.7 in an 86 body and tranny replaced... it was set up carborated I guess as what would be a drag car... next owner rebuilt a TPI system out of a box of wishes (GTA plate, vette rails aftermarket injectors) .. and it all works!

The interior is going to need much love and I'm debating what to do there, I'm going to need a headliner, carpet and seats and some of the plastic has been abused. Right now it's all the standard package light saddle, the kicks and door panels are in fair shape, console and dash are pristine but for a totally screwed gauge set.

The body needs a little work on the passenger fender, nose, the left rocker effect is missing a "chunk" and I either need to find a 87' winglet for the left or an 86 hatch and third light set.

Only real plan I have is for paint... black, loose the IROC stickers, replace all the silver to gray Z-28 emblems with red (pre 85" ?), simple red striping and a red side molding.

I'm going for a simple, cheaper, driver.. nothing crazier that it already is.

I really like it, don't get me wrong I love a clean 3rd gen, but what I really like about a car that has already had some things swapped out on it is you can do anything you want to it and not worry about keeping it original. Also you get to watch the re-birth process as opposed to buying an already built car. Good luck with it.

Good luck with it man. It's gonna take a lot of work, but with dedication and lots of $$$$$$$, you should be just fine.

You have a good start on a project that will take some time, but with patience, time and money it could be your dream car. Goodluck

But it will be worth it in the end
