Wish I could've cleaned mine up today - but she's got a 6+ hour ride tomorrow, there's really no point until I get there.

Your car is nice! I Like it! Never seen a front bumper done like that. Very different!

Thanks man. I appreciate it. The previous owner did the bumper, which is okay. I have an 85-90 bumper gfx ready to swap out. I'm really just waiting to save the money to get them painted. At least now it's all one color (mostly).

OH man, you should leave the front bumper. It looks cool that way even though I'm more of a fan of the newer bumpers.

you know i never realized until these pictures that the 84 Camaro GFX kit is different than the 85-90 set (just like it is with the Trans Ams). they must be very tough to find in good shape these days... keep it original style and you'll be glad you did as these cars get older and more rare. it'll really stand out.

BTW, did you do the LT1 / T56 swap yourself? What all was involved as far as mounts, fuel delivery, etc? Does it work with your stock gauges?

Yeah, this one's definately different. The front bumper gfx are custom done by the PO. It's not my taste, hense the Iroc bumper and gfx that are ready to go on it.

And yeah I did the swap myself. The hardest part is the electrical connections. I was able to use the original 3rd gen V8 engine mounts and the clam shells that bolt to the block... just swapped them onto the LT1 block. Fuel delievery, I used hard lines from my previous 350 TPI swap and bought braided stainless lines that were fabricated by a member on the board specifically for an LT1 swap... i can find his name if you want it. I'm using a stock guage cluster from a later 3rd gen with an electronic speedometer, but my tach is kinda erratic above 4k rpms... I'm working on a fix for that. For the Camaro, I think they had mechanical speedos all the way up until the dash change in 1990, so you'd have to get some type of conversion device. They do exist, search the LT1/LS1 swap forum and you'll find out about your options. Also, you'll have to have the LT1 ecm reprogrammed for your rear gear ratio and probably have the VATS removed from the program unless you go through the work of keeping that feature. PM me if you have any more questions.

Re: Got my '84 Cleaned up for the F-Body Gathering
Thanks for the reply. I do like the 82-84Z bumper, but I like the 85+ better. I figure if I'm going to go through the trouble of swapping it out, I might as well put the one on I like best.
I was thinking about the swap for my 91z that has no drivetrain. It was originally a 350tpi car. My main concern was if the LT1 computer just hooks up to the factory dash harness, so all that stuff still works as it should, or does something else have to be hooked up to keep the factory gauges and stuff working. I also didn't know if the stock fuel system would work (the hard lines and tank, pump, etc...) Thanks for the info, I'm really interested in this swap, it just makes me nervous.
