Some fresh pix
I know you've all seen my car before, but I didnt have any pictures of the car that were really decent since the IRS swap so I took some today. Some of them turned out kinda cool and I thought some of you might enjoy them. It was a little late in the evening so there are some shadows, sorry I'm not a pro.

Re: Some fresh pix
it's an 86 and should have the brake light on rear glass. I broke the stock spoiler off the hatch last year when I ran the car up on the lift and forgot to close the hatch and it hit the ceiling. The spoiler is off my dad's '88. Hopefully I'll be able to re-paint the car fairly soon and I'll put a later hatch on with no brake light.

Here is the build thread, I need to keep working on finishing it but it's time consuming.

Here is an instant gratification pic of the IRS.

I lowered the rear 1/4" yesterday to level the car out a bit. I cut 3/4 coil off the front springs and thats turned out to be pretty aggressive. Hopefully I'll be making weight jacks for the front this winter.

Re: Some fresh pix
I want to put IRS in my car so bad but I'm not comfortable in doing it myself like you did. I can handle the drivetrain swap but IRS is a whole other ball game I think.

Re: Some fresh pix
It rides and drives better than any other 3rd or 4th gen I've been in. You don't relize how unsettled the solid axle gets when you go over bumps until it's gone. I've been so busy on weekends and such with moving into a new house in a new area that I have not autocrossed it or hit an open track day yet. On the street the car grips noticably better, but I think it's because I lowered it 2" lol. The IRS offered the strong ring and pinion I wanted, without adding the weight or expense of a 9" or 12 bolt, which is why I put it in. On a smooth course the car will NOT handle better than a live axle car. The IRS is only better over rough pavement (which on the street and most courses is most of the time). I can put more negative camber in the rear tires than a live axle car can and it would help the car corner, but with too much negative camber in the rear you can't get any forward traction coming off a corner, so it kind of balances out.
