My first third gen: 1983 Z28
I have had the car for around 6-7 months and haven't really dont too much to the car other than replacing wore out parts like front struts and ball joints. It has a 305 & 700r4.Not sure if it is the original motor in the car now, but it originally came out with the lower hp carbed 305, not the H.O. Plans for the future are paint, either swap interior to black or clean and paint all the plastics and replace carpet in current color. Either way I will probably try to find some leather seats out of a 4th gen either black or tan. Also plan on getting some small drop springs and will probably go back to some sort of stock wheel like an IROC or 91-92 Z28 wheel. I haven't decided whether I want to swap to 350 or not, I really just want to drive the car down curvy roads and have fun with it, not really worried about being the fastest in town. Would love to have a 5spd, but I believe I will stick with the automatic. The only thing I wish was different about the car is I would like to have T-tops. Anyway, on to the pics.

welcome!
looks great! awesome first 3rdgen!
if i was to do it all again, i'd put my money into the suspension first. that way, you can actually enjoy driving the car.
when i was 18 i replaced the 305 with a GMPP 350HO. the car was considerably faster, but with 180k miles on the factory suspension I couldn't stand driving it more than half an hour. no fun when your steering wheel has 4 inches of play either direction, and your front end bounces over the road like a boat out to sea.
IMHO TTops are a bit overrated. My 4th gen has them. I don't use them all that much, and I get burned more haha.
...Get a small drop and she'll be in business! I also have the goodmark hood and i love it too.

Re: My first third gen: 1983 Z28
Thanks guys.
Definitely losing the gold pin stripe, just been kinda lazy. I am also gonna lose the door molding. I will probably order the eibach pro kit springs and sway bar, but I have to have tires first. Any suggestions on parts to buy to improve my handling and steering? I have already put new struts, ball joints on the front and also an idler arm. The tie rod ends and pittman arm were fine, it also has new strut bar end links. I will also be getting new struts in the rear. The suspension and tires are my main points of interest right now, because I want to do some driving, nto racing. My father in law and brother in law have some tube chassis cars they drag race with that they build all the engines for, so if there comes a time when I want to do an engine swap it won't be too much trouble.

subframe connectors for sure and some springs and itll start to look and handle well.
also I dont know if your set on the black interior but the tan with 4th gen leather seats once cleaned up looks really nice with the black exterior.. Personal opinion but either way looks like a really nice start. Best of luck keep us updated.

Nice looking Z you've got there. Personally I like the black and tan interior, but that's up to you. A new dashpad would look great. I think your wheels look pretty good too.
Re: My first third gen: 1983 Z28
Yeah I definitely need a new dash pad and probably new carpet not sure if I could clean it as good as I would like it. If I decided to keep the tan I would still have to freshen up all the interior pieces anyway they are pretty faded in the hatch area
