My 90 IROC

I picked up an lb9 90 IROC Saturday. And had to drop the trans Tuesday. I traded a clean 95 9c1 caprice/ impala clone. The Camaro was repainted over the summer. The interior needs some work, dash pad, seats, the inside of the doors need need some work. And I need to work on the steering colume. It has true duals on it that some ******* welded up. Got headers and ypipe to put on it.

This is my first 3rd gen and my fourth f-body. Had two ls1 t/a's that are gone. And I have a 93 Z28 that is a work in progress. It has an ls1 sitting in it. Still have too finish putting it tougher. So what I'm wondering is what 4th gen interior parts can I use. I work at LKQ salvage yard and we have some 4th gens so I wanna try and get as much much stuff from there as I can. As far as I can tell the inside of the doors are set up about the same. How will the carpet from one work out? I don't see why it wouldn't but sometimes you never know.

My goal with this car for the time being is just to make it a nice car to drive. It's my daily driver for the time being. So I want the interior to look as good as the outside. I will post more pics in a day or so.

Re: My 90 IROC

There'sa wwrite up to use the 4th gen console and dash. Idk if any of the plastic panels will work. I'm gonna use a 4th gen m6 console in my 91 rs. I like the 3rd gen dash. But never really felt the console.

Fourth gen door panels work (minor mods), fourth gen door sills work iirc, rear plastics work with mods.

Re: My 90 IROC

Since this is a true IROC should I not do some of this to maybe hold value? The first two things I'm doing is fixing the windows the rattle and there is nothing to hold them in place when I'm driving. I've grabbed some parts off a fourth gen. I got most the stuff I need. And then I'm going to rebuild the steering colume. I've done some research on here and found some great info.

I really like the way this forum has stickers and such. Lots of good info on here if you just look. Thanks everyone for the feed back.

Re: My 90 IROC

Also 4th gen seats are a direct bolt in, I'm surprised nobody said that. They are slightly lighter and sit lower

It depends. did you buy it for enjoyment, or did you buy it for what it may be worth in 15-20 years? If the former, do what you wanna do. If the latter, keep it stock.

Ive modified my 92 heritage quite a bit, but im not interested in resale.

Re: My 90 IROC

Dude I'm so jelly with that car. I want a black on black hardtop '90 IROC with a 5-speed in the worst way, only because it's my birth year.

The rear ends from a 4th gen are bolt-in as far as I know, so you can get rear disc brakes pretty easy. It's about an inch longer on each side though, so you'll get a nice stance (in my opinion). I'm actually hunting around yards in my area for a 4th gen rear-end for that reason.

Re: My 90 IROC

Thanks for the replies. I've got some 4th gen firebird seats for it and I'm going to try the carpet. It's not a t-5 car. When I origanally bought the car I thought it was a 350 car. But when I seen the lb9 RPO code I knew I'd been had. So since it is a 305 car I was wanting to put a 350 in it. Thought about it more and eventually it will get an ls swap. If it dosent have the origanal engine what's it matter at that point.

Would you be willing to sell the seats in it, if they're not ruined?

Re: My 90 IROC

Oh! 1 more 4th gen item, the rear view mirror (with the reading lights). I have one wired up in my car, kindof cool. Though most any rear view mirror from any car would work.

The seats in it are in good shape. But they are not the original seats. I can snap a pic of them tomorrow.
