Re: 90 G92 5-spd on it's way!

Got the car on Monday , was a little disappointed in the paint work that wasn't disclosed. I've spoke to two body men and most can be detailed out by a pro. The roof has orange peel and a few fish eyes but paint is .69 on measure on top so most are worried about burning through unless you really know what your doing.
I expected 31 yr old paint with normal wear so it's not totally unexpected that someone would do work on it at some point.
It drives fantastic , power is surprising with the G92 set up and I'm very pleased with everything else but the paint issue's that I'm told by both body guys 99% of people would never notice.
I'm taking it into the shop for a motor vehicle inspection tomorrow and have a mechanic that will tell me what needs attention underneath. Stay tuned lol

Very nice. Don't sweat the small things. It's a 30+ year old vehicle. Drive it and enjoy it

I waited 30 years to get mine. Hard to find me out from behind the wheel on a nice day

That's real nice. Black suits that car really well.

Not a lot of cars that old are going to be perfect. Most people are probably like me. You buy a "new" car and your eyes instantly lock on to the small imperfections every time you look at it. And it sort of has you depressed for a while. But after a short time you mentally lock into ownership and you stop sweating the small stuff. I've had my GTA for over three years. It wasn't perfect when delivered, but it's pretty close. But still at first I kept looking at what was wrong, instead of the 98% that was right. But now I see only my favorite car.

The car looks great! And I'm sure will look even better in your hands. These cars weren't perfect even new, so don't let that little flaw ruin the experience. Congrats again, and have fun!

Has a 9 Bolt ! Must be a very early build '90 ?
very dry and solid underneath. Will need bushings, plugs ect. Waiting till old gas through the car , added Seafoam to it.

For sure an early build. They were using up and left over '89 9 bolts. There should be a sticker on the driver's door jam with the build date.

Cool! Your SPID should say GM3 for axle ratio instead of GU6.

Great car. As others have said, it is 30 years old, so don't sweat it, just enjoy it! You will have that whipped into the shape you want in no time!

It shows GU6...but would GM use the code GM3 on a 90 if it wasn't offered ? I've seen in several forums that GM used left over 9 bolts on 90 model year builds with the G92 package. I'm confused and the axle housing looks original to the car.
Anyone can shed light on this or have a 90 with GM3 code on the label?

That's interesting. Someone else here has a '90 with a BW, I think.
