Another Formula Bites the Dust

Last Thursday my son was headed to work when a Suv took a left turn into the driver's side of my '91 Formula. Wasn't pretty to look at but was in very good running condition. Son is okay and the Formula did carry a donor's card. Waiting for their insurance to make an offer.

Re: Another Formula Bites the Dust

It caught the rear wheel, snapped the control arm bolt and pulled the axle back far enough for the slip yoke to pull out. A sad sight indeed.

the back window does shatter into little pieces. In his case, the tint kept all those little pieces together.

The Formula is cooked, a gift that your son was not hurt. Was this originally a JY car? The door tags look yellow underneath.

May have been, only picked it up a couple of years ago. Exterior was like that, been working to make it mechanically sound.

Look what I found on my way home from visiting my brothers. He's asking $1300. Says it runs, has a 305 TPI in it, and has a 5-speed transmission.

Dunno what year but come to Germany. In northen Europe where the tax on tax on tax on tax makes pretty much all cars luxury to own.For 6k you get a good V6 but not a V8.Also we are talking about a V8 Firebird for 1300$....my PC is worth more than that.

Another Formula Bites the Dust

Im in the netherlands and germany (border area) and the tax on tax is higher in nl by a LOT and 3rd gens are nowhere near those prices. Neither are they in germany.

I can guarantee that if you have a driver quality one and not just v8 but lb9 ir l98 and want to move it... 10k wont do it. Guy here has a gone through painted l98 car for 10 something. Been for sale for some time.

He can't sell it because in some areas classics mean older than 30 years (I mean the point when the taxes are lower) .These cars from late 80s are just now getting in their 30s.People won't buy a car that has taxes higher than the car's purchase price. Also its a niche car not a every day car thou I admit I don't know the prices in Netherlands nor the taxes.

Here are some from mobile.de all V8s

The Netherlands and the UK have the lowest price in Europe, Belgium as well but they mostly have V6 there.

Parts also are VERY expensive to import from the states. I just sold my original steering wheel and air bag and the shipping costs were $135.00 over to France!

That seems outrageously expensive for a steering wheel, what shipping method did you use ? That's the kind of shipping cost I get for a very large Rockauto order.

Had to use FedEx, (due to the fact that an air bag is considered an explosive and total weight was just over 10 lbs), I sold it thru eBay and had to pay $10.56 to ship it to their KY address and then they used their Global International shipping to get it the address.
