Anyone else do dumb stuff like putting the paint marks back on parts after a cleanup?

Where else would you keep your parts catalogs?
Yes on the marks for sure, where and when I can.

Re: "it" has begun....
The PDF is a lifesaver. I have a ton of books on the shelves, but most of the time I'll go to a digital copy first since it's easier to deal with. Not to mention when it's looking up something for the forum, it's easier to screenshot than to move whatever books or parts are stacked on top of the scanner... I do wish I had the time and dedication to scan all the hard copy materials into PDFs so I could get rid of the clutter. And that the 3-ring binders were easier on the P&I catalogs. A proper manual stand like that would be nice, but if I had the counter space, I'd have room for a blasting cabinet I'd use a lot more. Hmm...
I almost forgot the obligatory... Nice Racks!

Re: "it" has begun....
LOL...yes, Mopars were my first love. I still have a '70 Plymouth Duster slant 6 (first car), a '72 Dodge Charger Rallye with 340, and a '77 Chrysler Cordoba, triple black with 400 (been in the family since new). All are projects, which at the pace I'm moving, will be retirement projects.
The GM diehards here won't like to hear me say it, but I find a similar spirit between Pontiac and Mopar...always had to be creative, get by with less, be it engineering resources, development budgets, advertising...wild colors, Road Runner Vs. Judge, that sort of thing.
Electronic IS easier for posting...can't argue with that.
There used to be a place north of me...old guy, pole building full of "stuff". I'd been in a few times to have my LP gas bottles filled by him, but didn't know any of his history. Turns out after the riots in Detroit in '67, he sold his auto parts store, and got the heck outta Dodge. Moved 50+ miles north, and built this building. It was loaded with everything he pulled out of his old parts store. After he passed, I bought a few odds and ends items at the estate auction, and that parts book rack was among the items. Cleaned it up, repainted it, added new lighting, and put it back to work. Even have a pad of carbonized business rcpts. from his old place. Ahhh, memories.

I started putting prices on stuff too, lol. I had my cousin over one day (he's my beneficiary) and he was like "I would just throw all this stuff away". I pointed to the box with the internals for my 8.5" 10 bolt and said that box alone was like $1,000

In the garage with a (can of) stripper. Got it mostly down to factory Ecoating. It had some previous paint work. Bet I took off one lb of paint./primer Hope it'll be yellow by weekend or early next week.

Hey Tone, its looking great so far! what will, you tell us about "IT" or the car itself? I know it's really about the FH "option" your adding but the underside of that car looks like a grandma 10,000 mile car wish I could see it in person - Awesome baby

Looking for a SLP intermediate pipe like in the picture. It's specific for 91.5 to 92 N10 cars.

It's 65 degs in my garage, which is cooler than our house lol Also have a dehumidifier running too.
The hood weighs ballpark 20lbs. Maybe less now with paint stripped, that's with no hinges on it.

Re: "it" has begun....
I can show a picture of one but for some oddball reason, this hood doesn't have the "A" on the bottom side. I've even asked Jim Mattison and a few others about it. We can only guess as to why it doesn't. The other 2 aluminum hoods I had did have an A on the bottom.

Fuel system details coming together.
Several different ways certain parts were made here but I'm going off how the last several cars were built.

So the extra width...what goes in the space to the right of the shifter? Change tray? Cup holders? A cast plaque celebrating your Gold status in the Society of Automotive Perfectionists?

But seriously the E-brake handle takes up some of the space on the right side.

Amazing work!
Just a question out of curiosity, and sorry if i missed it on another page in the thread...but why with all the NOS and other original parts going on this car, did you opt for a custom made center console? Not that I think there is anything wrong or bad about it, just curious as to the thought behind it over buying an original one.

Is this a factory console that’s been cut and modified I take it? I was always curious how they pulled this off considering the rest of the console looks almost like standard ones. This is going to be one cool car when done!

Re: "it" has begun....
Thanks for the compliments !
Doing the same thing with the fuel lines and adapters, can't find the parts, build em.
After the factory console was murdered, SLP then installed their "insert" for the ZF swap on top of what was left of the factory console. There are a couple of FH console designs SLP used that are way different in materials and fit/finish. This is the most common one used..
It's pretty basic really and I've built this one from several pictures I've taken over the years so it'll be close to the shape SLP had but not 100% spot on. I could even use the factory 5speed console like the press car if I wanted but where's the fun in that?
Going at it this way because I have only found 1 SLP center console since i've been searching. Missed out on the deal by a little bit, still hoping I wind up with it some day so until/if that ever happens, i'll have this one.

Re: "it" has begun....
Ahhh that makes sense now. So your essentially trying to build your own factory SLP console due to lack of availability. I just thought it was a custom whatever you wanted job, not a custom replica of factory.
That actually makes it a lot cooler. Cant find the part, build the part!
