1991 Formula Firebird. Sitting without an engine for a long time. I never would have guessed it has been 17 years but what I looked at the old inspection sticker on the windshield I was a little surprised. I'm running Corvette aluminum heads on the engine and it was 17 years ago I blew the head gaskets and got antifreeze in the oil. I kept getting an oil light on the dash and when I checked the oil had turned to jello pulled the car apart and just left it sit. I had it stored indoors so it never got weathered and still looks really nice.
An engine builder friend of mine put the engine back together and got it all ready to go so I thought well time to get the car back together got the engine in the chassis. Figured well, gas is 17 years old and see what I got tank was empty, and all the gas evaporated. Tank was rusted beyond belief. I ended up with a new fuel pump sending unit and a whole gas tank. While I was at it I swapped in a 3.42 posi rear with 4th gen brakes on it. Went with Hawks power sports brake cables which do work, if you route them the way Hawks tells you to. I am not really fond of that routing but it does work. Also doing a full exterior LED light swap.
