Would this work or not?

OK, i was talking to my friend who is an electronics freak and he was telling me that he would convert a blow drier to work with my car and he would take the heat element out. HE told me that if i put a blow-drier in my intake, it would help my performance by giving me better air flow into the engine, at first i didnt think anything about it but now that i have been thinking about it, do you think that it would work, thanks

I was at the local skiing spot. The roads were dry so I decided to drive my IROC-Z. Just as I am about to leave this little rice Honda Civic pulls up next to me and revs up the engine. He and his buddy just smile at me and I rev up mine. We got out and started talking and he claimed he has a "custom supercharger"....it was a leaf blower modified to push air into the intake or somethin. He said his car was "so much faster after putting that in" It was a struggle to keep from laughing in his face when he told me. Maybe it is possible, I don't know. He never did pop the hood so I could check it out. Just seemed a little cheap and wierd to me. I guess if it works its all good.

well than, i guess that i will have to look into a leaf blowers because that sounds like it would be better than a hair dryer, if it works, how cool would that be, it would be like a supercharger but at only like $200 max.

RETURN OF THE TOROCHARGER!!

Do a search on the torocharger, the results will enlighten you. Do you have any idea how much air 600 cfm is? There is no way a blow drier or a leaf blower can acheive high enough flow rates or the compression necessary to provide any sort of boost to your engine. As a matter of fact, it will probably be a bottleneck and make your car slower. Look at the shape of a typical fan blade in a hair dryer or a leaf blower, then look at the shape of a compressor wheel on a super/turbocharger, and you may see what I am talking about. Oh, and if you do the hair dryer thing, make sure to put a "POWERED BY REVLON" sticker on your windshield

you never know if it will work untill someone tries it. I am going to do it in the spring, i was going to do it now but we just had a snow storm and i dont feel like going out and working on my car, also, i need to get it dyno tested to see if i get an increase or decrease in power.

It all depends on the size of the "blow drier" ...

HAHAHa, waste of time! I saw a similar product that was for small imports, it was a bit larger than a MAF, and had some fans (like in model airplanes, not a prop, like a turbine) and it barely made 7 hp. This fan did not produce any boost, just helped feed the engine. i'm telling you now that your car will make less power. it will totally be a restriction above 2000 rpm! their is no way it could possible flow enough air. if you do actually attempt it, when you're done and realize it didn't work, kick yourself in the *** for me!!

HAHA, lol at JoBy's pic.. As for 1stgenracer, honestly, jokes aside, your money will probably be better spent on a nitrous system. Or, if you are really set on forced induction and fabricating custom tubing, start a junkyard turbo project. You can even buy a used roots blower off ebay, cut a hole in your hood, and slap it on your engine so you can have some forced induction. Just trying to help, nobody would like to see you go out and do this, only to regret it later. (Plus dyno pulls can get damn expensive!) Later man, good luck.
