Mark ,
I used to go there at least twice a year and sometimes three times a summer.
It has a lot great places to eat and there are some large parking lots that could be used.
It has a State Park with camping that is really nice with a sand beach area , plus I think at least three other camp grounds within a mile or two from the State Park. BTW the State Park by the Lake may have the largest parking area besides the Ski Resort.
The Hotels are a bit on the pricey side in the summer which is their peak time of the year even though they are known for their Ski slopes.
There is a Hotel on the edge of town when you first come in but I can't think of the name of it but I would say it's the cheapest for rooms compared to the Resort for the Ski Slopes which is called Wisp Resort.
They also have a second resort on the lake called Will of the Wisp so don't be confused when looking on the internet at info because they are own by the same people.
I live about two hours from there and I always enjoy going over there with the family. Wife loves the shopping and the lake and I enjoy the fishing.
They also have 3 theaters close to the lake , right across the street from Unos .
There is 100s of places along the Lake and at least 4 different realators to get info from for rentals. The lake front chalets are very expensive though. Most are $850 to $1500 a week and are not rented on the weekends. The lake front places are usually for 3 families to rent and about the only way I could see anyone can afford to rent them.
Email me after Sunday and I can tell about the Hotel/Motel that is on the edge of town that you can rent single rooms by the night. I'll ask my wife , who by the way is a expert on Deep Creek Lake since she's gone over there every year for her family vacation.
Also another plus for that area is that there is town about 10 miles away called Oakland and they have a couple hotels and a hospital , plus a second State Park called Swallow Falls that has camping about 3 miles from Deep Creek.

Craig

Mark ,
I forgot another possible site for parking and holding the show or get together. There is Fairgrounds right when you come into Deep Creek on the North end that is close to the Bubblebee campgrounds. I've been by there and seen truck pulls going on while I was there , not sure what the Fairground are called , maybe something connected to Garrett County >?
This Fairgrounds is also close to the Motel I was telling about where you can rent rooms by the night,

Just a thought ,

thanks for the heads up. I'm trying to avoid fairgrounds so I can keep the cost down. I still have to call them though, prolly tomorrow since I have off

I go up there usually once a year in the summer time and I can tell you it's a real nice place up there. It usually doesn't get too hot like around here, and the scenery is very nice. LOTS of good back roads to go cruising on
