Back in a 3rd Gen

Hey all! I've been reading the TGO boards for about a month to try and learn something about these cars. I used to own a '92 firebird v6 until it got crashed a year ago. I missed the thing so much that I decided to buy another. Here's what I got:

Engine: L98 Block, crankshafts, rods, pistons, flywheel & damper where weight and balanced by a certified machine shop before assembled. Pistons are sealed power forged flat top 10 1/2 compression with a new set of GM L98 steel heads 64cc chambers with double sprint. New bearings, rings, high volume oil pump, etc. The camshaft is a New GM hotcam & roller lifters 525/525 lift.

Intake:The intake & plenium are the factory ones, they were sandblast & coded, fully porter & polished. The runners are SLP the injectors are accel 26 lbs. The throtle body is a factory built 58 mm.
Ignition: It has a MSD box with a high performance coil & wires.
Trans: T-5 with a center force clutch dual friction kit. Rear end still has the factory 323 gears.
Exhaust: Edelbrock headers with 3" pipe & flow masters mufflers.

I'm a diesel mechanic so I'm fairly handy and understand basic engine mechanics although spark plugs still frighten and confuse me. I bought the car off of e-bay because it had the L98 and T-5. Any thoughts on the set-up any ideas of what problems I might run into?

Also, I live in MD and assuming (with fingers crossed) that the car isn't a total piece I'd like to tag along at some of your events. Look forward to meeting all of you who have been so helpful so far!

L98 and T5 were not a factory combo. Maybe someone swapped one of the two components in for you?

Yeah, I knew it wasn't a factory combo. The engine came from a 1990 camaro.

Sounds like a good combo to me. Just Put the pedal to the floor and make sure she holds together.

Atomicskr,

Congrats on the purchase. Sounds like a good solid set up. You might want to think about putting in a diff. just to support the rear end.

Yeah, that's the car. It's in transit right now though.... I don't know if I'll make it another week!!! I live in Bowie, about 15 miles east of DC.

Yep... that's about it. All we need is heat and kerosene to make something run!
