need help in falls church!!!
need help in falls church!!!
I am in Falls Church and desperately in need of some assistance with my 91 RS!! I posted a thread about three days ago about a problem.... my battery, starter... or ?? I went to start the car and everything seemed to be o.k., but as soon as I turned the key.... the grim reaper took the life completely from the car!!!!! No dash lights, no dome, NOTHING. it was suggested that I get the battery checked out and I did. It was shot. I also had the starter tested and it was good. I got everything hooked back up...AND THE REAPER SHOWED UP AGAIN!!! I can not figure this out for anything!! I was just wondering if anyone lived in the area that could school/ help me with this?

This might sound stupid but are the cables hooked up right? POS. to POS. and NEG. to NEG.
Re: need help in falls church!!!
yeah....When I put the battery in, It did the same thing as before.... I opened the door... dome light was on ...turned the key and all the dash lights worked. But after I turned the key to start it.... complete power failure!!!! nothing was on at all!!?? I have been given advise about fusable links .... but to be completely honest with you ..I know nothing about them and or anything electrical about the car. Regular things like plugs, wires, oil etc... I can do. I just need to be educated/ shown the how to dos' with this thing.

You know something too.... I noticed a spark at the grounding side (to the frame of the car) of the negitive cable when I turned the key to start it. I just remembered that....sorry!!

Did you check for a loose connection where you see the sparking? I’ve seen a loose battery ground result in exactly the same symptoms
Re: need help in falls church!!!
I tugged on it to make sure it was tight...and all seemed o.k. It is actually grounded to the bolt to the a/c compressor. Its' been located in that spot for the last six years and has not given me a problem. I even took off the wires that are hooked up to the (tower?) to see if anything looked corroded..??

You've got a bad ground somewhere. Pull up another car and hook up a jumper cable up to that cars negative terminal and the other end to your car's chassis. Don't hook up the positive. What this does is use the other cars' ground. If you have power, this tells you that your problem is a bad ground on your car.
