F-body vs. Corvette shootout

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=272475

Anyone interested? I think we should all expect to be in the "slower" ranks. I know I'll get toasted instantly unless I get to run a stock 3rd gen. Should be fun though.

I wounder who that Firstin87 guy is? If you guys need some info ask, This is the third time for me setting this event up. I'd love to see more third gens. I'm always the only 3rd gen and I get beat up buy all but the V6 4th gens. And as for the V6 they all running No2 and I have problems with them know, or I used to .

Aha! I see So where exactly is this and what is the schedule? I'm Blown94vette (my last '94 coupe was a supercharged car).

Don't worry about being the only 3rd gen. Next year we'll get the QWKTRIP machine out there and kick some butt.

The race is at Byron Dragway. It starts at 9 am Saturday May 18th. Its broke up into catigories of 11.99 sec and faster cars, 12.00-13.99, and 14.00 and beyond. It is not a braket style race, all you have to know is about what you run. If you dont knoe you get a cuple of runs in to find out. It is ran on an instant green format. No yellow light just both drivers stage and then the starter hits the green light. Trust me, a 13.99 car can beat a 12.00 car in an instant green race. The winner is the first across the finish line. It is a great time, the more 3rd gens the better.

Oh baby!! That sounds awesome! I hate bracket racing and this is the type of thing I've always wanted to do! My car would be PERFECT for 14 and slower. I probably run high 13s or low 14s so my reaction time (or lack thereof) would make it pretty tough to beat for that class. Do they add reaction time to your total time or do they just keep track of your run? Sorry guys... but I'm on the Vette team this year.

No, it doesn't add to your time. If you run a 14.5 and your competor runs a 14.0 but you pull a .032 light and he pulls a .600 and panics cuase he seen you just wax him at the line and spins you are going to be the first to the finish line. It happened last year in the final race for first place a high 9sec vette beat a low 9sec vette becuase he pulled a .032 light which just gave him enough to win.

Don't worry about it. I've had two Vettes and believe me they're just another car. No need to worry about the opinion of some dufus who likes the superiority kick out of owning a Vette rather than just having fun with a car. The Vette crowd can be EXTREMELY snooty. Even if you beat them their classic response is, "It's still not a Vette." Although, I have found the Porsche crowd to be far worse.

WIll be there

I will be there.. also...

If you have a Camaro, My friend is a contact for the Camaro
Club of Illinois. If you are interested in joining the Illinois
Camaro club if you are already not a member. Email
Keith at kgarner72@cs.com and in the mail just say
Bluebird sent ya! I don't get any benefits from it, cept for
him knowing that I'm trying to help him get some more true
Camaro fans to join the club so the car shows, cruises, and
other things they do will grow and have even bigger turnouts.
They do a burnout contest at the Rockford Speedway, so if
you get joined up soon you can attend that. it's a lot of fun!

I can't join the camaro club cuz I have a Firebird, I am a member
of the National Firebird and Transam Club.
I have applications for that club if anyone is interested.
you can email me @ metal@inwave.com for those!
HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mark

My parents are in town visiting from Washington state. I won't be able to attend. I'd really like to but this takes priority. Good luck, guys!
