What are the winter plans this year?

So what are the big plans for winter this year for your camaro or firebird? Mine are putting antifreze in the car so I dont get another crack and some interior mods like maybe trading out my megashifter for a hurst dual gate or maybe just going all out with a complete 98-02 camaro interior. If I can find a heated place to store my car I may rebuild my suspension this winter too.......or maybe get rid of my 9 bolt and get a 10 bolt with 3:73 gears who knows it just depends on were my car is stored and how much money to play with!

I can't say from experience but I have read a couple posts on here and it sounds to me like the dual gate is junk... oh yea, about the winter, lets see, I have had a superram, SLP T/C, And Xtronics pocket programmer all sitting in the box for about 2 years now, maybe I will finally get un-lazy

it works awesome now that i finally got the kickdown cable adjusted. the trans has a very hard time to get to 140 degrees though. the thing shifts awesome, cant believe the difference between the pro-built and the other 700r4's i've had with just a shift kit.

just need a higher stall i think:lala:
maybe this winter

thanks again James

i'm going tubular k-member this winter along with the a-arms as well. some moroso trick front springs and some 90/10 struts up front. gonna put in a rear sway bar finally and finish it off with a nice motor and TH350 trans with around a 3000-3500 stall and some big gears for my 9 bolt. probably going 4.11 (4.10?) with some 28x10.50 hoosier slicks that i got.

Gonna have to get a fogger system too, I want to join the wheels up club I think. got my cage done so i'm happy with myself for this year. oh yea battery in the back as well. then spring is paint time and the car might "gasp" be finished.

I'll be installing my 480 horse, TPIS minirammed 385 stroker engine, along with a nitrous kit, and maybe a new Moser 12-bolt rear axle assembly with H.D. aluminum driveshaft. I'll also pop in a BMR track-link adjustable torque arm and custom fabricate myself a lighter weight T56 retrofit crossmember. I'll also rework the subframe so that I can install the Hooker Long-tube headers and a custom three-inch Y-pipe to a 4-inch Mufflex exhaust system that is reworked to use a Hooker Aerochamber muffler.

That ought to do it.

KagA152: if you don't mind me asking what do you run now?

btw your car kicks *** I like the 91-92 styles and the rims look great on that car.

I don't like most aftermarket rim choices on thirdgens but, those are clearly a good choice

I have yet to run slicks on my car because I'm still using the original T5. It'd sure be nice to see some time slips that jive with a 118 MPH trap speed.

Finish smoothing the minor body imperfections. Recovering the seats and new door panels. Installing some Brownbread sound deadener cuz my 3" exhaust is blowin me outta the car...lol Getting the swaybars powdercoated a different color. If finances allow buying a Baer brake system for Christmas and installing it.

Plans for this winter....restoration. I have a 91 right now that is done but I can't deny myself of not having t tops anymore...so I bought an 86 Iroc that doesn't need any body work, so i'm going to strip it down, paint it, and throw my goodies from the 91 into it. It's gonna be a long, cold winter.

Actually, my mods are in a race to get done BEFORE winter. I have a new 305 on the stand with the planned LT1 intake and the 416 casting heads waiting at the machine shop for new 1.94/1.50 stainless backcut valves. The new cams/bearings/roller lifters are waiting on the shelf... A few secrets here and there will make for near 400 horse, if not, there's always the Compucar N2O kit in the rafters...

I've also got new linear rate lowering springs, subframe connectors, and bucshings waiting... 3.45 gears and new posi... as well as fabricating my own STB, wonderbar, trailing arms, panhard rod... all of which I already have the raw materials for. now I just need new shocks/struts before the suspension mods will begin.

Does anyone have any spare time I can borrow? I'm all out...

Unfortunately, my winter plans are to drive REEEEEEALLLLLLY slowly.

And frequent car washes and a couple sand bags in the trunk

Oh, and winter tires.
Oh, and disconnect the cold air intake.
Oh, and did I mention drive slow?

I hear ya brother. I'll be top up more than usual here in the Bay Area but at least I don't have to dodge any hurricanes.

The good thing about my situation is while all the TGOer's back east have their cars in their garages doing their winter mods, I can evaluate the winner mods in the Spring for consideration later. Hell... with CA smog law tightening I may be talking in my hat.

Because I've gotten all of the parts sooooo cheap and because I can! Otherwise there would be no reason other than to keep the slightly better mileage of a smaller engine. I already pull down 26+ MPG on the interstate with a cam that has waaaaaaaaay to much duration for the 'puter. My goal is 30 MPG highway and low 12's running 125-150 shot.

Also possibly in the mix are lightweight aluminum 6" rods to reduce skirt side load, but I'd have to find a hell of a deal on some pistons first.

Converting to a roller cam for my '86 block using 3.1L roller lifters and a stock '87+ LB9/L98 spider tray. I can't remember the exact cam specs, but I do know the lift is right around .500 (since the P&P ports stall out around that lift value) and duration is in the 224 range intake and 230 exhaust if I remember right. I can't remember lobe separation... It's not a standard grind cam since I'm trying for better than standard results. If you're really intersted, contact me offline to discuss. Work email is usually quickest bnoon@avtex.com

changing interior from tan to black, so new carpet and seat covers, most of of the plastic pieces have already been taken care of... and I guess after reading every thread on the wonder bar considering changing that as well.

Still a little fuzzy though. Didn't see anyone that had an IROC change one that made a difference, since I have the stock one.

any thoughts.

sunburst orange met. paint first thing in the spring.....

If you see my profile you'll notice that I started with an LG4 (305 carb). The engine was leaking oil so I took it out, and I am building a 400 to replace it. At the same time I am going to do the WIRING for TPI. I will probably use an LT1 intake, but it will still run from basic TPI wiring.
