maybe coming back?
maybe coming back?
hey guys, so this is my first time on here, and its been a while since ive owned a 3rd gen, but im trying to get back into it. hopefully by the end of summer i'll be back into it 100%!
I had an 82 Z28 when i got out of highschool in '05 but i had a slight lapse of judgement and i sold it for way to little, and i want one again.
sorry this thread is a bit pointless i suppose other than to say hi to everybody and have a good weekend!

Lol it's cool dude, everyone has a brain melt every now and then and does somethin' they regret. xD For me it was when I sold my POS 91 RS camaro for like, 240 bucks since it was overheating, had a blown radiator and was rotting out. I shoulda stripped it for some interior parts and then took it to the junkyard.
Good luck with you search then man, if you're in the NH area I may be able to help you find one.
See ya around,
Yor

i'll probably be willing to travel once i get the money to buy one. i have to sell my volkswagen first. its an 85 rabbit convertible with a ton of aftermarket stuff if you know anybody that would be interested in it.

I'll look around for ya man, most of my buddies either have brand new cars or drive old chevys/pontiacs like I do. lol My first car was an 89 Z24 Cavalier with a 5 speed, and my second real driver is my 84 15th Ann. Trans Am. It's got a 350 4bbl and a 5 speed, and I love it.
lol
lol Re: maybe coming back?
i had a 93 Z24 in highschool and i loved it haha, and my buddy has an 84 15th TA as well, the body and interior on it are imaculate, unfortunately hes not exactly a motor expert and he ripped it all apart and has never put it back together. I would buy that one but i really want something that i can just drive. The VW has been problem after problem and a ton of money into parts and i just want something i can drive thats reliable.
Re: maybe coming back?
so i just got off the phone with my friend that has the 15th anniversary TA, and he said he'll sell it to me for $800. i know it needs an engine, but the body and interior are mint. i guess its nice to know people who have stuff you like lol. didnt take me long to find a deal lol.
The last time i looked at the car the floor boards were still solid, the interior didnt even need vaccumed it was so nice, and the seals and t-tops were still in great shape. im gonna go look at it in a week or two and really look things over so i can make sure its gonna be a good deal. I dont want to have to dump a ton of money into it just to pass inspection. but i can take my time cause he said its already got my name on it.

Dude! Lucky!! If there's anything you don't want off of the car, hook me up! Lol, I'll pay good money for some parts of it if you end up being strapped for cash after buying it. I've been DYING to find a couple parts off of another 15th.

yeah tell me about it, i gotta make sure its a good buy before i make a move on it for sure. but as of right now i know its mine if i want it. I wanna find some information on them first, ive spent the last couple years buried into volkswagens so i kinda lost touch with muscle cars so i dont know alot about this one. my dad said they mostly came with v6's, but this one has a locked up 400 and the kid isnt sure what transmission is in it. is there anything you can tell me about it that i should know? or anything i should look for in particular? im really worried about emissions stuff.

Re: maybe coming back?
Well get me some pics some time and I'll probably be able to help out with visual things.
As for 15th Anniversary editions, the specialty interior/exterior pieces on them can VERY difficult to find if you need to replace something. AS long as he didn't change the interior/exterior from stock it should have:
an off-white (Light sand gray) leather wrapped steering wheel, a map pocket of the same leather with blue writing, the shifter **** should be the same color too. The tail lights will have white lines going across them and the center piece that goes between each side of taillights will have a blue and white bird.
As for emissions, depending on where in the northeast you live they shouldn't matter. In NH they don't even do emissions testing, but if you put glasspacks or straight pipes on for the exhaust it most likely won't pass unless you have someone hook you up with a sticker. You could probably get away without having a catalytic converter, simply due to the age of the vehicle, but if the person doing the inspection knows that the car is supposed to have one then they could fail you for that.
6.6L Poncho 400's are great engines though, if you can free it up somehow and have it rebuilt that would be a great big block to get. One thing though, with a engine that large you will definitely want to invest in some Sub-Frame Connectors to help stiffen up the car, putting a big block into a unibody can warp the chassis.

Re: maybe coming back?
ok thanks, I live in PA and emissions laws are always in question here unfortunately. i know its a small block 400 though, not a big block. but unfortunately i dont think i'll be getting this one. i went and took a look at it this afternoon and it has some definite issues and i want something that is more road ready. so i told him i would help him get it on the road but im gonna get something different. oh well i guess deals come and go.

Ah, I see. How was the interior? If he ends up wanting to part it out, let me know! I'm DYING to get some good condition recaro seats and a couple other parts I need, real bad. lol
I'll keep an eye out around for you though, hopefully something comes up for ya.

Re: maybe coming back?
i'll definitely talk to him and see what he says, but the interior is ridiculously clean. you could eat off of the carpet in there. i couldnt believe it when he opened it up. and thanks for keepin an eye out for me, i seriously cant wait to get another one lol.

Re: maybe coming back?
My interior is in decent shape, but I NEED to get new front recaro seats, and I would pay pretty good money for them. Thanks bud, I'd be forever in debt to find a good set.
But yeah if any of my buddies in the area have one for sale. I'll tell ya.

Re: maybe coming back?
i talked to the kid with the 15th ann. TA, and he said for the right price he would probably let go of some parts to fund his jeep project. so if you want to let me know what you want to spend and i can let him know.
Its harder to get back in to these than i thought it would be. I have looked at over at over a dozen cars in my area and they are mostly junk! not to mention selling my car has turned into a pretty difficult task, gonna have to break out all the marketing skills on this one.
