nor-cal thirdgen logo design
Starting a new thread for the nor-cal thirdgen logo designs. I got alot of good feedback from everyone who came to the gtg last july in alameda, and everyone involved in the last post. for previous designs check out the last thread, here
this was the general idea. most people were happy with the design, but wanted to see what could be done to make the "t". This was alot more trial and error than i had imagined -- but, im pleased with the results

I think the T on ThirdGen needs to be more prominent on the cross. It look to much like an I or L. . .

I was really hoping the designs would have generated more interest
Only a few replies here . . .Ordering
As far as ordering everyone can email me thier info. Name, mailing address, color choice, and screen name. Subject should be "nor-cal thirdgen stickers".
Color Schemes
For the initial run I have decided on a few of the examples above, as well as a straight white & black on clear. If you have a custom color request thats fine too, send it along with the email and we'll see if we cant get it.
Sizing
For the initial run I will be printing 6x2 inch stickers. This looks about right to me for a small team or group sticker, as well as being an industry standard. Different sizes available upon request.
Quality
Vinyl graphic products are made from high quality self adhesive vinyl material (the same type used for OEM Original Equipment Manufacturers) These materials are first quality and have excellent workability and removal properties. The average life expectancy is between 5 to 7 years
Installation
These vinyl graphic products can be installed on any smooth, wax free surface. This includes glass, plexiglas, painted surfaces, fiberglas, some plastics, etc. The vinyl will not harm any of these surfaces. This is the same material that is used for truck lettering, & commercial signage.
Availability
Turn around for pre-press and digital imaging is pretty fast. I hope to get the first proofs sometime in the next week. And the first press 2-3 weeks. As far as distribution : snail mail for the masses, and in-person at the next gtg.
Pricing
I won't be charging for the initial round of stickers -- as this is my way of giving back to these boards
anything i've missed ? sound good ?

I had some trouble finding, contacting, print shops that had the capability to print my designs. Most shops I contacted scoffed at the idea of doing a 4 color process custom color die-cut logo. Some shops told me it was to complex of a design
-- while others told me it wouldn't be cost effective, they'd have to charge like 5 bucks per. But the main problem is that its not an easy procedure to print shadows, glows, and similar transparency effects on clear vinyl because the color can seem to change when overlaid on the background color. i.e. a red glow on a transparent sticker, placed on a blue car might appear purple.
I have however found a shop willing, and currently they have the designs as well as my approval to run a set of press proofs. Basically, I want to hold in my hand one of each design before I commit to a several hundred dollar production run. They quoted me 10-15 working days to produce samples, and 10-15 working days for the final production run.
Im really looking forward to getting the press proofs. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping all my color seperations, and pre-press work will give us a decal that looks just like the sample images. Something to be damn proud of.

Sounds good keep us informed. I guess you designed beyond there capability. If this runs prices higher than you intended when you were being so generous on giving these away, I think most of us would not have a problem paying for stickers we want.

i've received numerous offers to help pay for these . . . thanks guys! What i'll do is set up a one page website where you can make a payPal donation if you feel so inclined -- but that wont be online until im happy with the proofs at least, if not have the real thing to give out.

thanks to 87tpi it looks like we might be getting some logos soon. As a few of you know i'm self-employed, and have been slammed lately with work.
I farmed the sticker job out to at least 3 print shops -- and was very dissapointed with the quality of the color prints. The colors were off, the resolution was grainy, and didn't look nice at all. All the while each shop told me it was the best that could be had. That my designs just weren't easily transferrable to stickers and that was the best I could get.
I wasn't about to spend 800 bucks on a production run and have my name associated with the work.
So, I gave a copy of the CD to a friend of mine who I know does very good quality work, and he assured me that he could deliver. He is doing it as a favor for me becuase I designed his website. So time frame is up in the air.
Hopefully we'll have something soon.
