New to 3rd Gens
hey, My Name is Brian and I just got my frist 3rd gen. Not my first F Body but my frirst 3rd gen. I love her except for the 305 and the 2.73's. But my 383 will be assembled soon and I have some 3.73's to put in it. I need some weather stripping, anyone know a local vender in SoCal where I can get this stuff? I need to seal her back up. Thanks!

which heads are you considering? are you changing the induction system at all? these will have a lot of bearing on what cam to consider.

I want to use the Edlebrock E tech heads with the 64cc chamber and 170/60 CC runners. Im probably going to build it at 9.5 to 1 and I am going to use the TPI setup. My goal is a lot to torque with about a 5K to 5.5 redline. I have a 2200 stall and looking for a disk brake rear end for my car to run 3.73s. That will put my power band right on the begining of the torque curve when Im cruising at 70 so it should be pretty fun to drive. I havn't decided cam yet but im leaning towards a custom grind comp cams with equal intake and exhaust lift with a 1.6 RR intake and 1.5 RR exhaust to grab some more torque in the bottom end and mid range.

the longer stroke of the 383 will certainly provide you with the low end grunt to put a smile on your face. if you don't touch the stock tpi intake, however, you'll be missing out on all the 383 has to offer. in fact, you may still be stuck with a ~ 5k redline with the tpi being the limiting factor. are you considering aftermarket runners to help push that redline up toward 5.5k?
by the way, welcome to the boards and how 'bout some pics!

Ill get some pics up soon. Im going to use the TPI but Im looking for a pair of siamesed runners and or the edelbrock runners and I am probably going to use an accell or edelbrock base plate. It depends on what it looks like when I pull this one apart.

Thats cool. I thought the holy stealth ram wasn't smog legal? Im still saving up my dough to get all of my parts at once. If the stealth ram is smog legal then I may be very interested in running that bad boy on my car. Although it is a lot more expensive then using the factory TPI with after market runners and base plate.

Yeah I do know that Im going to end up with gobs of bottom end with the TPI setup. Thats what I was going for though. I have no intention of drag racing the car. I just want it to be a pleasure to drive, something that would remind me of my old lt4. That thing came on real strong at about 2500rpm. With all of that torque it will be a handfull to drive but thats most of the fun to me.
I gotta get this 9 bolt in the back of this car first. Its going to be my first time setting up a rear end. Wish me luck!
