There's nothing wrong with the fox bodies.I had an 88 gt and it was sick!Much more fun to drive than my 87 t/a,faster too. They respond really well to mods.Sorry, have to post a pic.

haha i didnt know that was your rs. didnt mean to sound critical, just meant that going from a 5.0 to a 5.0 isn't a huge upgrade.

but seriously if you're going ford swap a 5.8 in there. I've got one sitting in the backyard I'll sell cheap!! it's an entire 351 including accessories and FMX tranny. The 302 has some potential but it's extremely displacement limited. A full bolt-on 87-93 302 will only put down 235 or so rwhp. You have to do a heads/cam/intake to really get anywhere with them. Even then I'd be worried about full bolt on LS1s if the combo is still streetable. Sucks when you've put $3k into your motor and a bolt on 4th gen rapes you.

I know a guy that has a 302 with every bolt on, an e303 cam and trickflow heads and got absolutely skull f*cked by my bro with a full bolt-on 98 LS1, 6-speed with 4.10 gears. He was running long tubes with a cut-out as well. The full bolt-on LS1 had ran 12.2@111 a few days before.

Also remember that if you get into serious modding a smaller displacement motor like a 302 is going to be less streetable than a larger displacement motor with the same cam. A good condition 5.0 is also really hard to find. Most of them have high miles, flowmasters and some dumbass kid behind the stick that thinks it's the fastest thing in the world, running a grand total of 14.4.

I considered a 5.0 at one time, but then rejected it just as quickly. My next car will be at LEAST a 5.7L, but I'm considering a 6.3L.

Well said bro.

You'll be wishing you had your RS back when your "little faster / cheaper modded" 5.slow fishtails into a spin and wraps itself around a telephone pole or tree like SO MANY of them do!

If you know how to drive then you won't lose control.Just add some sub frame connectors and some lower control arms and you'll be good.

No one has a clean camaro around here and your RS was pretty nice dude. A few bucks and she could have a built motor (im sure you'd find plenty of help on here from local guys) and it could STOMP ponies, in the 1/4, on the highway and through the turns!

I think there just comes a time when you have to try something new.If I had a choice now between a higher powered thirdgen or getting another mustang then I would choose the thirdgen. If you're like me,you get bored with your car and want to try something else (like my Honda faze that lasted a few months )My first car was Nissan Pulsar that I buoght for 200 bucks when I was 17.My second was at 18 and it was a 79 trans am with a 403.I have gone with so many different cars and I'm sure I'm not done.I would still love to have a 69 Dodge charger as my dad had about 20-30 during my childhood and I fell in love.Just about any late 60's- early 70's muscle cars would be welcome in my garage.

I see so many 5.0 foxes that it's disgusting. All of the ones I see in the Bay Area are driven by thugs and teenagers, and are horribly taken care of. Sad there are so many poor conditioned cars in the bay, especially Oakland, Haywad, and San Leandro.

There's a reason parts are cheaper, they break a lot

If it was me I would keep them, like I stated already I like to be different unlike the rest of the sheep.

Be like all your friends that be "rollin' on dubs wit' da whale tail fiddy yo".

That still doesn't fix the ugly / horribly un-aerodynamic body/ wimpy 4 lug crap / junk braking and suspension systems.

Std. F**D equipment I'd say.

I never did understand the 4 lug crap or the 4 shock setup in the rear. With my Eibachs,Bilsteins, lca's,and 17's it handled a little better than my t/a did stock. The t/a would have been awsome with some suspension work done though. It's seems like about 50% of the mustangs I see are nice, the others are too "pimped out" for my taste.I think more parts on thirdgens break, look at all the things all of you guys replace.I had about 800 bucks in repairs to do to my t/a when I bought it.Even with the previous owner of the 5.0 not taking care of the motor like he should have,I only need a tune up.

Yeah I know, I'm taking 21 units this semester and working full time. Last semester I had 15 units and worked.

Mustang parts really aren't all that cheaper. Factor in the fact that the thing is slow, handles horrible and has numerous other problems and it isn't really any cheaper in the end since you have to do alot of work to the suspension/braking systems. I'd say keep your clean camaro but that's just me...

in fact the price difference for a 302 ford and a sbc isn't really that much at all. sbc stuff is dirt cheap also. $1000 - $1500 and you can build a 350 that runs alot faster than any bolt on pony will. I'd keep your RS and put a couple bucks into the engine if you want to go faster.

That's a car by car basis.. my old 85 is running to this day - over 200k miles - and has never had anything replaced on it except for a new tranny which i did myself.

I think it's the way they're taken care of.I've seen plenty of mustangs that were just crap, nothing but problems, and the same thing with thirdgens too but there are the ones that have been taken care of that don't need a thing.I am mainly a Gm guy but wouldn't hesitate to by another ford.
