Almost ready for the street !
Well, I have been putting some time into my car in order to put it back on the road. I should have a set of SLP headers at some point this week, I ordered a Borla XR-1 16" shootout muffler, mandrel bends, and some pipe, so when all of that is installed....Road time ! It has been a loooong time since I drove this car, so needless to say, I am a bit excited!

I forgot, I need another A/C delete pulley and a belt.....The pulley and belt that used to be on it are currently on my 57' , and I have zero desire to take that thing apart ...

That is a sweet car Jason, it seems like you get too busy with all your other toys to spend a lot of time on your thirdgen, but trust me it looks like it will be VERY worth it.
Too bad I didn't get a chance to see it in person since my lil' bro got the "take me or i'm gonna kill you" rant from his gf again
But it will be sweet to see it in Ta-hoe!

Thanks for the compliments....
The SLP's showed up today... I will post updated pics as soon as I get them on.
Daniel is taking my Edelbrocks for his IROC, so he will have updates too....

Spacers? You asking about the camber caster plates?
The T-5 was sold long ago to Daniel's brother...Why? You looking for one?

The caster plates look like they are on top of spacers.
No I wasted my t-5 and went with a tremec and lakewood scatter shield.
I was just wondering if you are still using a manny tranny.

Yeah, the 6 speed was the only reason I stopped driving the car in the first place....I could not get the throwout to work right, after trying all day, I gave up and parked it for a few years...
It works now though....

Well, the SLP headers are in the oven getting baked...
I think my wife obviously stands behind my car habit allowing me to stink up the house...
I decided that it will be a little bit before I get around to sending them for the real deal coating, so I bought some coating in a spray can and am trying that out. I'll get some pictures as soon as they get done.

The drivers side header is tight up against the steering shaft....I really don't want to dimple the header to clear it, so I am hoping a new set of motor mounts will cure it....maybe not....

***. That sucks man. I am having alot of clearance issues with my ZZ383 also. The headers were hitting the heater/ac box and the brake lines. It was absolutely a bitch to fix the issue. We installed Polyurethane mounts and that seemed to clear the issues a bit. Still had to bend the brake lines and ****.

Dang, they look a 100%, no a 1000% better now than when they were here
When I put mine on my '89, I loosened the 4 bolts holding the column on the firewall and was able to move the column over about an 1/8-1/4inch (don't recall exactly, been a long time) to get clearance on the shaft.

That was on my mind too, actually moving the column over a touch...
I moved the brake lines over to the other side of the steering shaft, otherwise they would have been tight against the header (no intentions of boiling my brake fluid), anyways, I am hoping that the ES mounts will/ fix help the issue. My A/C - heater box clears by a ton.... Why would anyone have that problem..??
The Edelbrock headers cleared everything much better than these, but I needed the bigger primaries, so I guess I'll deal with it. Daniel, as soon as you are ready for them, they are here for you....I'll bring them over, just say the word.
Mike, all I did was take a scotchbrite wheel and put it in a drill, thouroughly cleaned all of the surface rust off of them, wiped them down with paint prep, then sprayed and cooked them.
Easy! Install took about an hour, including removing the Edelbrocks.... Now just a bit longer to solve the steering shaft issue and it is good to go.

It doesn't hit while driving. I usually only notice it when in a parking lot. The flat part of the shaft clears but the thicker part at the end of the radius is what hits the header. Of course there plenty of clearence at WOT!

I finally took it out for a spin and put a few miles on it....Damn that felt good !!! It has been a looooong time since I last drove that car. I still need to fab up some seat brackets , the header / steering shaft needs serious attention , and I need a better clutch. There are still a few things that need to be delt with, but it is up and running again !

I drove it again yesterday.....
I put the rear seats back in and took my family out for a spin, went to lunch, cruised all over town and then back home again. Felt VERY good to be behind the wheel of that car. The steering/header situation needs to be fixed ( it is pretty bad ) and I need to put a new clutch in it. The current McLeod slips after anything over about half throttle...Other than that though, it feels great!

Got a laptop or a mic with a really long cord (or both)?
Hit the sound recorder program in the Accessories/Entertainment group in Windows. Then hit the record button and start the car. Make sure the microphone is located in a sterophonic position.
Kinda hard any other way... Tahoe in the Summer? Hmmmmm...
