Anyone have a TA,GTA or Firebird hood for 82-92 bird? I can't find any local to me .... Doh!...... I hate to post this in here...But i am

uhm...between the years of 1982 and 1992...the hoods changed somewhat. Which one are you looking for? the one with the funny vents in the front? the ones with the power bulge? something else?

 

There is a powerbulge hood in the "free camaro parts"thread.I think I will stick with my gta hood.It sounds like he will sell it for a good price.

 

i may have a free hood for you give me a couple more weeks its from my 87 ta

and black with some paint marks from steve

 

I have a Firebird...not a TA or GTA...HOWEVER... i leaning towards the GTA hood IF I CAN FIND ONE! lol....

Will the powerbulge fit the '91? I'm betting not.

 

it would fit any year i believe. All firebird hoods are interchangable iirc, so are maro hoods (I've proven that one)

I know Eric,I was just saying that the hood you have is the gta hood.
I believe he has the intake tracting to make the powerbulge functional Mike,he sent me a pm.

 

my friend had some fitmint problems when he tried to put a gta hood on his 91 convert. The hood wasn't latching properly.

 

i would think that it does, dont formies have powerbuldge hoods?

 

Doh! too much Confusion.... why can't a HOOD be a HOOD.. lol....

 

Whenever you switch a hood it's going to have to be fitted,just like a new fender or any other body part.Some pieces just fit better than others.

 

I'd consider offloading my OEM Firebird hood if I could find a powerbulge in good shape.

yeah hoods need alot of adjusting to fit perfect, or even at all.. period. I'm sure the powerbulge will work mike

Yes, any 82' - 92' Hood will fit! They are all interchangable. As stated they may need to be adjusted as that on the Firebirds there is many factors for adjustments due to the popup type of headlights.

Well lets recap,Porkyzilla has a gta hood and eatfordshtdodge has a powerbulge.

i looked around the garage and i think i may have tossed the intake for it. but the hoods there

 

i've got a black GTA hood that you can have for 75.00. i'm in bakersfield

 

Is this the intake for the powerbulge?

Yep,that's it.That other piece is the grill for the scoop.

 

I wouldn't need that part for my car, would I?

I don't see it as working really well with the TBI...

 

You don't "need" it no...it was designed to work with the WOT system on the HO engines (Seen those air cleaner housings with the hole on top? Yeah it works with those).

I don't see why you couldn't just put that grill piece in and leave it open. It could theoretically work well with an open element air cleaner.

For reference as to what kind of air cleaner I was talking about when referring to the HO engine air cleaner on firebirds/TA's, I've linked an image I've uploaded here before.

I took the setup off of my 84 l69.I had an open element and the open scoop pulled in air like a cowl hood.I loved the setup.
