first and foremost. shoot and kill VATS. secondly, every time i look at it i see more and more the potential it has. im gonna attempt to find what the knock is. and go from there. either rebuild, or buy a rebuilt engine. im thinking spun bearing.
but after only a few hours of me being under the hood yesterday, vats disabled my ***** >=/ and the security light is still on
AND if you can see that white spot in on the fender. thats one of the shitttiest bondo jobs ever for a not so serious dent.

The 2nd option you listed is for 5.7's.
You have the one I listed.
In the other post, you posted "R6P", which is:
First used in 1991, the R6P Performance Enhancement Group option consisted of the KC4 oil cooler, the N10 dual converter exhaust, and the performance axle ratio..... whereas the G92 Performance Axle Ratio package included equipment specified for sanctioned, off-road competition: the aforementioned performance axle ratio, plus an aluminum prop shaft, specific fuel tank with high wall reservoirs, specific fuel sender, wide-strainer fuel pump, and specific 12" vented front disc brakes. This option package was available on all Formula and Trans Am models, but not the GTA.
Available on the 5.0L V8s and standard on the 5.7L, the R6P package was required on T/A models when the G92 option was ordered.

I like both style noses. I like the older style better, looks a little more sinister

Car looks great Ron!
A little paint, a new deck (I would recommend a 4th gen Pontiac CD player) and some engine work and you will be advertising a two tone bird for sale methinks
Honestly I would just get the correct key for your car and KEEP the VATS, it rocks and might just be the difference between no car or a stolen stereo.

The front end was derived from a concept car that came out in 1988 that showed the direction the Firebirds would be in the future, including the early 4th gens+.
Here's a quick narrative and a pic of it.
The Pontiac Banshee is a concept car designed by General Motors and unveiled in 1988. Known within GM as the Banshee IV, it was actually the fourth in a series of concept cars beginning in 1966. The Banshee name first appeared in the '60s as a code name for the forthcoming '67 Pontiac Firebird, companion to the '67 Chevrolet Camaro.
Like its predecessors, it was intended to establish exterior and interior design themes that would be modified for production versions of the Pontiac Firebird and Pontiac Trans Am sports cars. The Banshee IV successfully influenced the overall appearance especially the fourth generation of those cars.

BTW, I live in Frisco too! Where abouts are you? Maybe you can come check out my ride one of these days. Or if you need a hand, I've been through a few TPI 3rd gen's before, but never as far as I have with this one. Everything is out except the shortblock. Just saving the funds for then 383. Lots of other goodies going on too. Anyway, good luck with the new car.

I have some stuff for rust proofing. It's milky looking, but turns black when it hits rust. Dries nice, and is super paintable afterwards. I touched up a couple of spots under my hood while I am repainting everything.

No. I had my 86 totalled on Monterey and Gennessee when some bitch rear-ended me. And someone stole the faceplate out of my IROC right after I bought it. But never had one stolen.

so far it hasnt moved what with the rain and all. now im concentrating on gifts for xmas, that and its like it only rains on weekends. and i work m-f.... and now is a super busy time for me as you can imagine since i work at UPS. heres a tip
USE USPS for your xmas gifts!! less people handling your packages = less likely to be damaged/ less like to be lost.

Yep, I know and use the spray can version of the rust stuff you're talking about. I know some proffesional body people who do specialized restoration work that also use it.
Apparently there's a BIG/Significant difference in manufacturers, making some name brands great and others a big mistake. I'll run down to my garage and grab some so I can get the correct name. I purchase mine from a body and paint supply store. POR-15 is a great product with a well earned reputation and I'm using both products on a 1941 Dodge Army Weapons' Carrier Jeep/Truck that I'm restoring for my wife's family. Hang on.....
Well, my paint supply cabinet is currently blocked by the SUV, and I don't want to wake up the wife and her nicely breasted sister (damn that was a great evening in front of the fire....) so I'll have to wait till later today to unblock the cabinet and pull out the correct name.
Off the top of my head I think it's by the:SEM company and they call the product 'Rust-Mort'. They also make a brushable solution beside the spray. Great suff!
