New Gal on the Forums!
Howdy! I'm new to the online ThirdGen World and my car is still a work in progress. It seems nearly impossible to get in touch with people on our coast that are selling 3rd gen Firebird parts! Anyone locally parting out their birds? I need mostly cosmetic stuff! The engine mods, tranny, etc. will come later down the road!

Welcome to the board from the Central Coast of CA. Pics of your car are mandatory! These links should get you started online. Otherwise contact local pick n pulls. You may get lucky there. I just pulled a '91 fuel tank last month.

Re: New Gal on the Forums!
The parts I am currently needing for my '87...
* Antenna & Antenna Mast - Were there ever any automatic antennas??
* Inner Door Panel Top Rails with Weatherstripping - Example: http://hawksthirdgenparts.com/index....ROD&ProdID=569
* New hood
* And some other stuff, but I will most likely be purchasing them brand new..
Also, I think the wiring in it is pretty screwed. The turn signals don't work, we've replaced the fuse and it keeps blowing once you turn off the car & turn it back on. When the turn signals DO work, the left one doesn't blink - it just stays solid. The interior lights don't work, with except the gauges. The radio works, but every time the car is shut off - the radio resets to factory defaults, another electrical issue - maybe? Need I say, we have our work cut out for us!
For those of you that asked if I was hot.. Beauty (or "hotness") is all in the eye of the beholder
And Daniel, thanks for the links... I will do my best to hit them up when I get a chance. We've hit up several of the local pick-n-pulls, they definitely haven't offered much!
Oh! I'll try to take some "pretty" pictures of my cosmetically challenged car this weekend for posting :-D

Your antenna should be electric. All of mine have been electric but never worked.
Yearone and classic industries I believe have a good selection of interior parts for our cars at a good price. I need a couple of tiny things that I will be purchasing through one of them.

If your antenna was originally fixed you can swap in a Power Antenna but beware that most original Power Antennas are dead or need the repair kit if the motor still runs (like mine).
I sure wouldn't buy the "Inner Door Panel Top Rails with Weatherstripping" from Hawk's as 1. Their prices are outrageous and 2. Your door panel and top rail should be one piece and not torn in two, there is a way to remove them.
Those few parts and a hood can easily be snagged at your local junkyard for small money. I have had good luck at PNP but you need to search a lot, sometimes at every one in the Bay Area, sometimes at weird times they will have exactly what you need, sometimes they have jack ****.
Post up some pics!
Oh and as for your turn signal issue, try replacing the flasher, but you need to chase wires I BET IT BEATS CHASING WOMEN THOUGH~!

Re: New Gal on the Forums!
Cadillac - Looks like you took a photo right after washing it! *LOL* Nice drop top
No worries, I will get something together this weekend!
87tpi - Thanks for the info on the antenna, it is completely MIA. I need to get it ASAP, got a trip to So Cal in early June and I will be needing some tunes!
Vindeez - You said the door rail should be one piece with the door panel, joy! :P The door panels, themselves are in pretty good shape.. I'd hate to have to buy the entire set-up (new or used). I was surfing eBay for the rails and found them cheaper, but the hard part is finding them with the hard rubber/plastic weatherstripping at the top and that is what I need. I can deal with the crack on both doors, but I want to tint my windows and I think the window bobbing around will damage the tint. :-\ Looks like I need to hit up some Bay Area PNPs.
Everyone - Thanks for all the welcomes! Hopefully I will get a handle on how to operate this forum, I've never been very good at them! ;P

Re: New Gal on the Forums!
Ha Ha! Won't do anything with it?
Now that is some funny stuff! I use to street race my '91 GTA WS-6 every weekend in high school, I use to do canyon runs weekly when I lived in So Cal, and now (on the more legal side) I've ran Solo in the SCCA and was VERY competitive against the boys... My driving style is everything, but "girly". Please don't doubt me just because I am a female ;-) Great driving takes interest, skill, seat time, and controlled aggressive nature - and that can come in many different packages. XOXO

The easiest thing to do would be to find a nice panel with a good rail and remove it the right way in one piece as I mentioned and that should fix your problem.
Cheers on the SCCA racing and multiple thirdgen ownership (been there), keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliments, you definitely can't see her "Warts" in those pix ;-) The Earl Schibe paint job is just magnificent! *sarcasm*
Cameron - I'll keep that in mind once we get the fuse blowing issue dealt with. I hate electrical grimlins!
Here's a really good question, does anyone know of any good shops in the Central Valley that can fix/re-do my Air Conditioning system?? I was referred to one shop, but the second they heard it was a TA they didn't want to touch it :-\ I want to find a place motivated to do it so they do a good job. I'm fairly picky when I pay for something so please keep that in mind ;-)

Your car looks nice. What is it that you don't like about your hood? Trying for a more aggressive appearance?

It actually has several "dents" on it - you just can't tell in photographs very well. The previous owner left some tools under the hood and tried to close it :-\

I have access to an 89 GTA hood, if I remember right, there is no damage to it at all other than the clear is starting to peel and it is white... It is located in Paso Robles, still on my buddies car that he is parting out. If interested, PM me and I can give you his cell #

I was just at James pick and pull Sat and was surprised to see a couple TAs. Was also surprised to see that one had tons of good parts, including one good tail light, many interior panels, etc. They don't last long out there, but they seem to get more than most places.
