New Gasoline Pumps in CA: BEYOND STUPID (first hand account)

Anybody else think these new gas pumps that the state forced all gas stations to purchase (at hefty $7k - $10k a piece) are pieces of ****? I roll up with a quarter tank of gas in my Tacoma, and start pumping. It shuts off after putting in 1 gallon. WTF. I start it again, and it shuts off again after 1.5 gallons. After doing this 2 or 3 more times it finally keeps putting gas in. It stops after 4 gallons. I'm not sure how much is in there so I stop to be safe.

Get in my car and drive away, as the gauge slowly goes up like it does in newer cars. It stops at 3/4 tank!!! These ****ing new piece of **** gas pumps don't fill your tank up all the way. It does the same thing in my Camaro. EVERY SINGLE TIME, and i've tried multiple pumps in multiple stations. Next time I'm gonna keep adding manually till it pumps gas all over the ground. How would you like that CARB?

Anybody have this problem in their Camaro, or other car for that matter?

YES! Happened in my 4th gen last couple visits.

I was like WTF is wrong with these hoses.

Had to baby it to get it to continue pumping.

Didn't realize it was an epidemic.

Definitly makes it easy for my bike too. It drives me nuts on my work van though 28 gallons seems to take forever when it keeps shutting off.

I haven't had a problem filling up my ZR1. Maybe because the filler neck is more upright than the Camaro.

Re: New Gasoline Pumps in CA: BEYOND STUPID (first hand account)

I have had a problem with a few pumps lately, did not think about it two much, I pulled it out 1 inch or so and it ran fine, that will let all the gas fumes escape I think they are set for two much backpressure, defeats the purpose though, could smell the fumes escaping. Not good, but I have a 26g tank in the Silverado.

Re: New Gasoline Pumps in CA: BEYOND STUPID (first hand account)

I wonder who in Sacramento got a kick back for making the gas stations install the new gas pumps. I have heard that there are a number of stations closing down because they cannot afford the new pumps. This state government is totally out of control.

If that's true, it'll be awhile. I have no smog or any regulations up here at all.
