I don't know why I didnt do this sooner. Awesome 'mod'.
Wired up easy, comes on with ignition switch. When the motor was running temperature and the key was turned on, you can hear the coolant flowing through the motor and with the fans on, the needle on the temperature gauge can be seen dropping. Its nice!

Not the best pictures, the shadows made it hard for my phone/camera. I will try to get some better ones later. Until then, selfish promotion of engine bay pics.

Mezeire, Moroso, Summit? I'm still running an Edelbrock mechanical/aluminum with no issues.

When's your next track visit? Hoping for a 10.99??

Re: Electric water pump install.
no issues with my mechanical either. why not lose that belt friction though. plus its lighter then an aluminum pump. in between passes the cooling of the motor is way quicker as well

Are you still running a thermostat? If so why?

Re: Electric water pump install.
I have heard both ways, but I got the info below from another forum:

Quote:
No thermostat but you do need to slow the flow down so that it remains in the block long enough to absorb the heat and stay in the rad long enough to dissipate the heat. That's where a restrictor comes into play. Moroso sells a kit with different sizes but 3/4" is a good starting point.

In the pits during cooldown between rounds, using an electric water pump and a thermostat to cool the engine doesn't always work. As the coolant temp decreases, the thermostat closes and coolant flow stops going through the rad. A simple fix is to drill a couple of small holes around the thermostat which will still allow some flow through the rad even if the thermostat is closed.
Also, do you run E85 on that car, or was that the 4th gen? I know you shouldn't run E85 any cooler than 170 degrees. It is like menthanol and has to be almost hot to run correctly, no? Just some food for thought.

I do not run a serpentine belt, I had a custom V belt setup to work with my procharger.

And for the other posts, I guess I will be removing a thermostat

Re: Electric water pump install.
mechanical water pumps create drag and when your trying to get every possible HP it counts. But also in between runs an electric pump can be ran without the engine running to cool the engine, cooler engine=more power, and less wear on mechanical parts.

Jesse- What is your thought on having or not having a thermostat?

On another note; I had all my windows tinted 5%. The hatch, side windows and T Tops.
looking killer. Just waiting impatiently for my carpet to arrive!

he has a point too. you dont wanna be running too cold. too cold of an engine burns fuel ineffciently, you wanna have a hot combustion chamber. Should have put the water pump on a switch so you can have it turned off for awhile, then turn it on. But if the switch is on all the time it'll operate normal.

Re: Electric water pump install.
That's an idea I think you might want a restrictor in there at least if your not going to to have a thermostat
