Greetings!
Greetings!
Salutations 3rd Gen'ers,
I've surfed through these boards a few times over the various years, but finally ended up making an account. So here's a little about me...
Just returned stateside from overseas a year ago, military and stationed at Travis. This is my second time living in Nor Cal, I was stationed in Monterey, so I've spent a bit of time around the bay area... no expert yet, but I'm not totally lost.
When I got here a year ago I picked up a 1991 Rally Sport with the 305 Engine, I've been tinkering with it and having fun, but havent had the chance to put any major work into it yet.
Reading around here is making me really miss the old 1988 IROC I had while living in Arizona... so I'm kinda looking around to see if I can find one... but its a toss up right now. Trying to decide whether I want to put money into the car I have, or treat it as a daily driver and get an IROC project.
Anywho... just thought I'd say howdy. Feel free to drop a line. Heres a few pictures of the 91 RS:

Re: Greetings!
I've seen the Car Cruise thread and its a possibility. I'm on leave till Wednesday at the moment, and need to check our "on call" roster to verify that I won't be on a leash that weekend. Once I have that info I'll contact NorCalZ28.
Fun fact... 30 June marks my one year anniversary with this RS. Heh.

Super clean car.. looks like its had a recent paint job. I say keep that bad boy and if u really want a Iroc, et a project car. Welcome!
Re: Greetings!
Oh yeah, for sure, I wouldnt be ditching the RS by any means to get an IROC.
Id be driving the RS while I put time and money towards the IROC Project.
I'm the third owner for the 91 RS, both people before me were mechanics and did a pretty good job at keeping it well kept and maintained. Its begining to have minor things come up that are expected for its age... and I'm doing what I can while trying to learn more about the car.
I have the stock rims, I just havent gotten around to putting them back on the car. I'm not terribly fond of the ones on it, but its not a pressing issue for me. I simply figured when I got new tires would be a good time to put the stock rims back on it.
I also have the cloth to redo all the seats, the previous owner redid the driver seat, and I'll be replacing the other three when I have time.. well, and once I either learn how to do it right, or find someone who does.
Mechanically, I've replaced all the brakes and brake lines, replaced the Catalytic converter that was keeping it from passing smog. Replaced the front struts, and several components of the steering assembly that needed it. Flushed all fluids and replaced them.
It needs a new trunk motor, I need to clean up the carpet some, I need to replace the housing that the radiator fan sits in, and I need to rewire the fan itself because currently if the power is on the fan is on.
A/C blew cold last summer, but when the heat spiked up this year I turned it on and not so much. Have to decide if I want to replace the R12 system with the R134 now.

Thats a cool ride Bounty Hunter!! I'd love to get a v6 Camaro for a daily driver and ditch my old Escort but the wife wants me to keep it for now. I hope you are able to get your IROC soon.

I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist... I've seen a few IROC pop up. So far they're either right over my price range, or just need way to much work.
There was a 1988 and a 1990 for sell less than 10 mins away. The 88 was over priced and sold before he budged on price ... and the 90, while powerful, has too many cons to consider at the moment.
If you're in the bay area... theres one or two V6s up for rather cheap at the moment.
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/3080435633.html For example.
I think I might drive down into the bay and take a look at these two.

Re: Greetings!
Nice. now you can sell the other rims and try to recoup some money man!
Re: Greetings!
Now I've got four wheels to scrub and polish, new AIR pipes to put on, new radiator fan shroud to install, and a ton of new parts on the way : console lid, cruise lever, new door handles all the way around, dome light cover etc etc...
And closing the deals on other random stuff I need. Trunk shades, visors, trunk motor and more
Busy busy busy.
