Gathering Duece

Alright post ideas and ways to improve over the last one.

I am going to delete posts in here that are irrelevant or of subject in an attempt to make it easier to navigate.

If you want me to show up make it a Saturday instead of a Sunday.

One thing I did want to mention is that is DOES NOT matter what your car runs or looks like. They are all welcome. So come one, come all.

I made up some new cards with the new logo on them and gathering information on the back. All I need is a date, place & time and I can print a few dozen out and dispense them. I like Sonic (or similar establishment) for a location. It would kick *** if we could fill an entire Sonic or A&W with Thirdgens. The problem I have is, I waterski every weekend but an early (9 - 10am) meeting on a Saturday morning would be ok, or we could go the other way and do it around dusk (5 - 6pm) and turn it into an evening thing. Lets try to set it for a month or two away. Any longer and snow could spoil our plans. Adams County Fairgrounds is a good place to meet and then we could cruise to lunch or dinner all together.

I've been giving these gatherings alot of thought. You know I made up more then 90 cards with thirdgen.org and the time, place and location on them? Russ passed out 20-25 and I passed out the rest. Guess what percentage showed up out of those? That is right, zero. And I think we and others, did alot of foot work.
Sooo.. what can we do to help make people show up? I agree that a very more visable place to meet would help. Anyone know of some good ideas? As of now there is no funds for this, so to make a decent gathering, it is all up to us. I think if gatherings happen they should be free to go to. And they need to know they will not be judged for the car. A little time from us all will go along way to making this really happen. So what to do????? What to dooooo????

Lets just all meet up at Sonics (somewhere) this saturday night at 7pm.

It's that simple. We just need to make many gatherings so people will show up.

I'll be busy this saturday until 9PM though, so I won't be able to make it.

I think someplace a little closer to us Wyoming people would work better. It's still a 2 hour drive for us. Maybe like Loveland or something like that.

Loveland, Longmont, Denver, Thornton, Ft Collins...Name the place and the time and I'll do everything I can to get there. I waterski on Boyd Lake from time to time. Hell, I'm even planning a trip up to Glendo and a couple more to Big Mac this year. What would be cool is if we could get a bunch of us to go run the Silver State Classic in Nebraska this August.
Check it out: Sand Hills Open Road Challenge I'm going to try to make that, since I have a house about an hour away.

I don't care who sets the date but it shall not be me, so someone step up to the plate, and the place. Upper Co, lower Co,Wy. All is fine with me. The love for the cars will take me there. I know I'm the only dumb F-that feels this way. Love'em or leave'em.

before we set the "wheres" and "whens", I think we should discuss the "whats". What are interested members looking to get out of this? what are they wanting to do? do they just want a little shine and show with a little BS session? Would Bandemere be a better place to meet? Would it be better to show up at a dyno location? We were very loose about what we were looking to do that day. before we set it up lets decide what we want to do. If it is more organized will it be more successful?

I have another idea. We can just go to the coloradof-body gatherings and be the thirdgen group there. THEN once we establish that we have more and more members, we can hold thirdgen only gatherings. I find all the CFB gatherings to be very fun and full of activities.

For example, the 19th is going to be a dyno day in the morning, then go to a member's house and have a party there, by the way, the guy that's throwing the party has an 88 IROC.

In case you need it, here's the link to the party : http://coloradof-body.com/ubb/ultima...9;t=001376;p=1

and the dyno http://coloradof-body.com/ubb/ultima...7;t=000032;p=1

my $.02,
Jesse

Ps- I'll try to make it to the party, I have my national guard commitment that weekend, so I might have to leave early, if I can make it at all.

That sounded good going into this weekend, but coming out, I have a few unexpected expences to cover now. It seems that I am possibly the stupidest sumbitch on the face of the planet. I placed my truck keys (the lone set that we had for the truck) in my shorts pocket at the lake and forgot to reomve them before my first ski run of the day. The lake took care of removing them for me, in 92 feet of water. After a day where the boat was having tremendous cavatation problems and skiing was tough (though tubing was awesome) we decided to call it a day and go get some chow. Long story short, I couldn't find my keys (no **** huh?) and we had to call a freind to come get the boat off the water & back to the house and a tow truck to take my truck to the dealer for a re-key job. The tow bill was only 82 bucks (thank *** for having friends in the towing industry) but the keys and remotes are going to be in the neighborhood of $400 total. That said, anything that costs more than gas to get there, is out for me. Sorry guys. I'll have to pass on the dyno, damnit.

You don't have to dyno at the dyno, just watching and talking to people is just fine. That's basically what you'd be doing at the party afterwards, so if you wanted to skip the dyno and just show up for the party(free admission) that'd be cool too.

The part that I mentioned about lunch was a recommendation for after the dyno, so it'd be with everybody...whatever, I won't be there for lunch or the dyno anyways. You guys are grownups, you can decide what you want to do.

Later,
Jesse

I might be ready, when the car has been cruising very slowly with me occasionally stomping on it in this hot weather the temp gets up to around 220* and the oil pressure at idle is around 15. That is a big change from the 58-60 psi at idle when it starts cool. As long as this doesnt end up being some manifested problem, I will be ready Man this huge cam sounds nasty and she runs like a MF without any tuning so far! Shot this pic a couple days ago, if you wanna see more of them click my "progress" section in my sig:

Well, I'm not sure if I'm going to make it saturday night or not. I had to DRIVE through a flood on I-25 which was about to the level of the moulding on the door for door dings. LUCKILY (thank you K&N) there was no damage at all (so far) and my drive back to the springs was kind of nice....once I got out of Denver. I stopped at a gas station to check it out. I was surprised to find the engine compartment covered in dirt from the dirty water. I guess the water got higher than I thought, and the pullies flung quite a bit in there too.

I think all I have is a lot of cleaning to do after drill tomorrow, but I could be wrong considering a lot of parts were submerged. All my lights are working though...even the fog lights...which was surprising.

Why the hell did I do it? Because I HAD to get down to Colorado Springs for my national guard commitment this weekend. It was already past midnight when I got to the flood, the water wasn't rushing, so I figured I had to go for it. Having the air filters at the level of the hood really helped. If I had installed ram air or anything like that I definately would have hydroed my engine...which is a scary scary thought.

I'll see if my mind changes tomorrow.

In case anyone cares there is supposed to be some street action here in cheyenne sat night july 19th, we meet down town at central and 20th street as early as 9:30 and as late as 11:00, we hang there until midnight sometimes. Frontier days is going on right now which is one of the biggest parties you have ever seen and the town grows to 3 times its normal population. That keeps the cops busy and off of us for the most part when we go outside of town.

I, like many others have went to Coloradof-body.com for gatherings and such. So I don't see a reason to start a gathering on this board.
