welding inside?
i got to looking around my apartment a little more this weekend and realized that my stove and a/c are 220v...which got me wondering about moving some appliances around and welding some stuff up in my apartment. So i'd like to know your thoughts about welding indoors, it'd be on linoleum, so i'll probably put down some plywood first, but an other thoughts other than keeping it well insulated and being careful about sparks?

i think its stupid cuz there is so much crap that can go up in flames.... BUT if you reallly want to i would find a room that is close to the 220 outlet and pull the flooring up.... apartments have fire codes where you have to have a fire wall between other apartments then you also have to worry about the smoke. i would do iton the deck :-D

If this is any welding besides TIG, I would strongly advise not doing it. Way too many sparks.
Likely be best to prep the pieces and bring them to a shop- even muffler shops usually have a halfway decent mig welder.

Next you can lug your air compressor upstairs and start painting your car panel by panel
Anyways, i would advise against it, unless you and all the other apartments have renters insurance.

you guys just aren't rednecks...rednecks would understand
i think AJ could relate to some degree...
tried a little the other day, seems to work fine, bought a fan that goes in the window (looks like a electric radiator fan...hmm...i could rig...) and it takes about an hour for the smell to go away, but i get a nice breeze, the floor is covered with 3/4" plywood so sparks haven't been any problem, it's right next to the sink, so i can cool the metal off without walking all over...it's like my apartment was designed with welding in mind...:hail:
