Fall/Winter projects, lets hear em

Okay, since this place is so dead, i thought i would try to breath some life into it.

So, lets hear what the fall/winter has in store for your thirdgen(or fourth gen).

My main goal(if i still have my car) will be too redo the entire suspension, put new carpet in, new seats, and finally give my rims the polishing they deserve.

I am also still looking for a good deal on an L98 or Lt1, i fi could find that, my car would def not be going bye bye.

So, whats up people, any projects you need help with? I can act like i know what i am doing with the best of them.

Just a few things:

Replace front rotors, wheel bearing, calipers & other brake parts
Resurface rear drums, paint & replace old parts
Hopefully scrounge up enough $$$$ for new wheels & tires
Redo dash, new Speedo, fuel pressure gauges & relocate exiting gauges into existing dash

The problem is finding time, with 2 small children, and a pregnant wife. Something tells me I'll still be working on this list next winter!

Steve, I didn't know she was pregnant. Are congradulations, or condolances in order? As your already small amount of time for the toy will be slimming up soon.

However, congrats on the baby.

As for my projects? Mine has become the never ending search for a transmission that will live long enough for me to save up for a built tranny. The car still needs a repaint, thats on hold.

I still want to do a few things, but I think once I get the driveline sorted out for a bit I'll leave it be and do the appearance.

I want to do a few things. Like Deadbirds car, Flush door handles. I want to shave the Antenna. Repaint the car tripple white (duh), and paint the A-pillars satin black. And polish the stock rims. I did a photoshop concept.

Well, since I still have to go to school 35 miles away in the summer, I will probably keep drivin the Cavalier even in the summer and the IROC won't be out until Summer of 2005. So, if I can get a better job and make some better money, there's tons I'd like to do. Heres what I can come up with now:

Repaint nose
New rear end with 3.27's or 3.42's
Suspension upgrades (LCAs, STB, SFCs, Adjustable panhard, etc)
Get my cutout with electric plate put on
New cam, rockers, etc.
Head work
Finish polishing and painting my rims
New tires
Reupolster headliner
Fix the weird squeeking my engine makes
Stereo system (nothing fancy, just upgrade the speakers and get a new head unit)

We'll see how that goes.

oh geez....this will be the third or fourth of these posts that i am replying to in regards to my camaro.

well it'll be out sooner or later

as soon as i get a digi camera i could at least post some progress pics lol.

By the way long tube headers are a pain in the butt to run....don't forget to cut out pieces of the engine crossmember to make it fit lol.......EIGHT hours for 2 headers. I pulled my motor and trans out completely in 6 hours last year by myself.....now it took 8 hours to put in 2 headers due to all the grinding and measuring to get them to fit without rubbing anything. FUN FUN

well it'll fire before winter hopefully so then all that leaves is the cowl hood, cage and subframes for the winter. YAY.

Im am looking for a GM winter car or truck that i can drive in the cold wintertime here i Chicago. Must have decent size to it just in case my wife has to use it for her busness. my budget is 1500 or less and would prefer it be in the chicago area. Let me know if anyone has anything or knows of someone selling something that fits this description. I really dont want to drive my camaro all winter anymore..

Just found out this weekend, and we've been trying for a while. We just found out today that according to her levels, that there's a very good chance we'll be doubling out current number of children! Anyone got a spare couch for me to crash on?!

Well, after my vacation, the work on the Firebird will begin.. Doin the ol' v6 to v8 swap.. All I have to do is regasket this motor, change motor mounts, put the motor and tranny in, hook up the exhaust, throw an intake and carb on it, and buy a decent FPR.. As for other ****, I basically need to buy an entire guage cluster and dash because the one it came with was that gay setup, ya know, the kind with the gas guage, and the speedometer.. Then 12 dummy lights.. I'm probably going to take the entire dash assembly from my Trans Am if I can't find the setup quickly..

Probably going to work on polishing those formula rims it has, too. Depending on money it shouldn't take too long to get this whole project done. Hopefully I can finish it in time to take it for a cruise before it starts snowing too much. Then I'll be off to Wyoming in late winter/early spring..

I feel your pain. I only have one (a 7 mo. old daughter), but progress ground to a halt on the Firebird. My "to-do" list for this winter is the same as last winter... finish the bodywork & paint the car. Congrats on the new addition.

Im looking for a spot to store mine for the winter. This is the first time in the 3 years ive had her where I can put her down for the winter. Having a cavalier for a daily driver is definitly nice. I may try and get some body work started this winter. My front GFX needs replaced cause of a close encounter with a lightpole 2 winters ago (have a bra on covering the damage) and the whole car needs repainted and the rusty stuff needs replaced (both rear quarters, both door skins, and one front fender). On top of that all that needs done is pulling the motor to rewire the whole engine bay and putting the TT 427 sbc in (long term goals ) Ah well, maybe i'll win the lotto this winter, if I can just stop buying guns long enough to pay for a ticket.

Mine's will be painted by the first week or two in November. After that...all new weatherstripping, complete interior, and either Nitrous or a super charger for the Lt1. I am also swapping the fuel tank with a baffled one and Walbro pump. Gotta get her ready for Denny's next bash

well i'm debating on suspension parts first or brake upgrades..
thinking of putting something in my car this year...but not sure which...i'm thinking if i put slotted rotors now and put it away for the winter....those rotors would probably warp over the winter for not using them enough....and yes rotors do warp when not in use for long periods of time...
i know i need front struts so thinking on getting those kybs...and they're not that expensive at my local auto parts store..should get the adjustable struts while i'm at it..

planning on future things on how to hit my 300 HP mark for my L98..and i remember Tim was talking to me about another third genner..who has vortec heads and so on....which i'm interested in how to..and keeping an ear open...

yeah, that vortec headed thirdgenner would be Jeremy and his 91 Formula.

Yes, it is very fast. Very fast indeed.

Wait till i get my wideband setup going and get that thing really tuned............ Aint been quite right since i got the 30# injectors in it. So needs some more tweaking but im hoping for 300 at the wheels and the torque should be in the upper 300 to 400 ft lbs or so :-)

LOL and a little more tweaking and my mileage in both mixed and highway will be almost or equal to stock :-) Got a few tricks when all said and done to possibly boost it past stock to :-)

Later

whow, jermey we gotta talk hp some time...and share me in a lil of your secrets fellow brotha!...haha

however i'm planning to keep mine emission legal, 30 lb injectors seem a lil too much fuel to be burning, plus i wanna keep my GTA a daily driver in the summer, i don't want to be spending 20 bucks on gas like every 2 days...unless there's a way to control the fuel trim and pulse width...then i would probably be all for it...but like i said before i'm going with suspension upgrades and performance brakes are in need first before engine tuning...
one other thing is debating is about the exhaust system,...this could go endless the way i'm thinking....because those dual cat. converters are starting to be a problem for me...cutting welding, blah...i wish now my car did come with the single cat....then the setup would of been much easier...
the system i want has to be dual exhaust with 3" out...
so far the only systems i've seen avalible that is 3" dual were Random Tech and Flomasters (only avalible in YearOne?)...
i don't wanna end up paying like 4 hundred and something dollars for that flowmasters, but it's stainless steel...yet Random is cheaper but it's aluminized...man dem choices ya know...

The Formula gets 17-18 around town/mixed and 22mpg on the higway lol beat my gta for mileage the last time i went to dayton and i go the same way everytime :-)

It can be a lil cantankerous now and then but it idles decent drives nicely and starts right up in the mornings :-)

Fuel trim and pulsewidths lol ummmmmmmmmm what u think prom burning is/does :-)

4 bolt main?

properly done stock 2 or 4 bolts are gonna split at roughly the same hp level so it really doesnt matter....

U start talking splayed caps and or studs and girdles (serious power) (they would be aftermarket caps anyhow) then it makes a difference but for what everyone here does (99% sub 500 hp level ) 2 or 4 bolt will stay together and be durable provided proper machine work and assambly
