Machine shop needed

I am in need of a trustworthy, reliable machine shop. I am near dekalb and work in the naperville area.

I have a 406 that has some wear in the bores. I want to find out if I can get by with just a re-hone. I want a professional shop to check it out but I do not want to overbore any more if it is not neccessary.

so who do you know of that is trustworthy?

Borowski's in Rockdale (Joliet). Ask for Dave tell him Chad sent you in and they will take care of you. HINT: they do a LOT of Ateam's work They are probably the best shop on the southside.....unless you are spending Rizutti money

never knew that barowski's did A-Team's work....interesting. Would Barowski beat A-Teams prices then? or is A-Team just marking up prices as a middle man?

yeah, I am kinda needing to watch price to an extent. I need a full machine servicing.

looking to do:
clean & mag
hone mains
block deck
bore & tq plate hone
cam bearings
drill & tap starter hole for 400
balance rotating assembly

maybe even drill for splaid caps. (doubt this one but still possible, probally just go with new caps and studs)

what do you think? $800? $900? more? less?

ontogenesis,
it's like when you go to a fishing shop and ask how the lake's been doing....of course they send you to the wrong spot. Can't have people fishing in your spot catching all the fish, no if you "reworded" the question to.....which lures, bait, tackle, etc could I "purchase" from you to fish which spots on the lake to catch some fish.....well then the whole attitude changes, no one gets nothing for free....yeee haw.

They only build motors, if you want them to tune it you would have to pull it and have it dyno'd by them. They build em' you tune em'. I told you to come out to an SCC and I or one of my crew would try and tune her in for you. That would be the best place to tune. My hand is still out to help but I already work a ton so it's going to be hard to hook up till next year. Good news is I'm moving to Bourbonnais

We're gonna have to take some money out of the pockets of some of those k3 ricers...should be fun.

I know your willin to help, and i really can't tell you how appreciative i am of that, but I'm givin up on the engine, to be running the way it is, something has to be ****ed...I've pissed away too much time on it (almost a full year) so i'm moving on to other options...hope to be where you were last season

so what are you planning on doing with that 355 engine then ???

Also....did you weld up that cage yourself on that car? I need a 6 point and subframes come early spring/late winter

And when you need some extra special wiring help for your new project let me know and i'll work something out with you to get it running real good

The 355 and the rest of the drivetrain is gettin a lil work donw and being donated to Project "LIL BROTHER GETS HIS LICENSE SOON" he dunno it yet, but i bought him a 2nd gen project car for xmas...that really doesn't need anything done to it, good glass, solid body, decent paint, the interior isn't even too ratty (read: i'm gonna make alot of cash off his highschool friends that think it's slow cuz of the idle )

Yea, i welded the rollbar up myself, me and a friend, bought it from jegs (dumb, paid more for shipping than the cage, literally). It's in there nice, but it really needs to be rewelded next time i strip the car down. We used a portable mig that ran off 120 and the ****in thing kept sputtering, so the result was about 100 spot welds with more spot welds ontop of those to join it all together....sad really.

I'll definately get ahold of you when my setup arrives...you know, it's a bitch finding an engine/trans pair...but eh, it'll be worth it when it's done.
