update on car (suspension is now done)

Began the suspension tonight on the 92 firebird, links to the the car is in my sig

The panhard rod starts to be removed

The panhard is out in this pic, removed rather easy since most of my bolts were not that rusted

Removed the sway bar the cordless sawzawl came in handy again. The stock sway bar and panhard verse the old stuff little better I would say.

The lower control arms are getting removed, damn thing fell out breaking the cheap plastic craftsman shop light it still works so I guess its not that bad.

The new lower control arm compared to the stock stamped steal piece

Lower control arms in place

Pic of the stuff installed

another from under

Nothing is torque down yet im just gonna do them all at once, still have to install the torque arm, front sway bars, wonder bar, B&G sport comp springs, and bilstein shocks and struts gonna do a brake job while its all apart and repack the bearings. Need to buy some more tools, need a torque wrench

For the front springs my haynes manual says you need to remove the pivot bolts to remove the springs so basically remove the whole lower control arm, no other way?

no, just make sure the car is high enough that you can let the arm swing down. put the jack under the control arm, then remove the strut and spindle. the SLOWLY lower the control arm, its a good idea to wrap a chain around the spring so it doesnt go anywhere, and stand off to the side, kinda like playing with a loaded gun

Shocks and springs out

The stock out, bilsteins going in

Shocks and springs in just need to get a torque wrench and a 21mm socket and Im almost done in the rear all I will need to do is adjust the panhard so that each side has the same amount of tire sticking out.

Looks rea familiar to a certain Formula 350(lol) that I know of now :-) Forget a brake job and do the LS1 swap. It;s easy and pretty cheap to do ...........Besides it looks better and fills the rim up wiht brakes :-)

thanks, this is the first big mod that I have done myself so Im a bit excited about it lots of trips to sears for tools, looks like I need a 23mm wrench for the strut bolts. I just hope I can get the torque arm angle correct

well the stock torque arm is out and I have about half the new stuff on, aside from the vett servo these are the last mods for my car fo a while. I got an engine for my IMPORT truck and most of my time and money will be going towards that, so hopefully by this coming fall my 350 will be getting some work done to it for the winter swap. Also my house is suppose to be done withen the next 3 months so I need to work some more saturdays

I got a new torque wrench when I started the project, nice for a craftsman has a sight dial unlike my dads old snap-on.

The last piece is in WOOOOOOOO got the torue arm in tonight, had to cut some of the stock mount down a bit but turned out alright. All I have to do I adjust the torque arm so I have a -1 degree difference from the trans to the diff. All I plan to do now is get those GTA rims off Mean57
