Re: Test and Tune help
As long as the car is "safe" you should pass inspection. Battery secure, no major leaks, decent tires, etc. Different tracks have different rules too. A track I used to run at in Wisconsin required a helmet no matter how fast you ran but other tracks like GLD don't require one until you go faster than like 12 or 13 sec. I would check the website and if that doesn't answer your question, give them a call.

nhra is more strict than gld, well gld used to be nhra , then ihra, and now nhra, and back in the day, origionally, anything went, now its tight rules, and you have to know what they are. get an nhra hand book, i know its not legal, but i dont suggest this, even thow we do it some time, get a radar, scan a back road, measure from a sign or something 2.5 miles on your odomitor, and run it from 0 till the 2.5, and count, if your over a certain time or speed, theyll get really strict, but stock, i think is 14, so you should have a problem, hope i helped

You'll need your parents there to sign a waiver since you're not 18. A helmet is never a bad idea as well. Must be snell rated, go to a motorcycle shop and purchase one.

Are you able to use motorcycle helmets at all for racing in a car? Every time I try to use one at GLD I get hassled for it being a motorcycle helmet. They have even told my friend that he couldnt use it and that he had to get a different one and this motorcycle helmet was brand new and up to date.

it needs a snell rating like M2005 then it is fine. Just being DOT approved isn't good enough, it needs a snell rating. There has to be a sticker inside the helmet showing snell approval.

Re: Test and Tune help
I went to GLD a few times with my '88 when I was 17 and never needed anyone to sign for me. May have changed over the last few years though I suppose.
Need a helmet if you are 13.99 or better, but its a good idea to have one anyways
As mentioned above, battery hold down, fluid leaks, and tire tread are the most important things they'll check on a stock car. When they saw the BFG drag radials sitting in my back seat, they told me they wanted me to get a driveshaft safety loop, but let me go anyways (the car was in the upper 14's at the time).
The one time I sprayed my LB9 there, they didn't even see the kit under the hood, but it was hidden fairly well. Would've been hassled for that I'm sure as it was not track-legal/safe at the time.
