What track to go to?

So whats the go to place to get some track runs going? I have some neighbors and family interested in running their cars since I want to take my L05 RS for a few runs to see what I might need to improve on and maybe get started on learning how to tune.

I'ts my first time looking to head to one and any advice/rules I should follow would be nice, and yes its all for fun! haha wouldn't be if my uncle wasn't thinking of bringing his 99 Stock Bravada haha.

294 is all done, great lakes is an easy drive now. look at the schedule.if you can get away during the week its perfect for you. tuesday for instance is street tire only day. no slicks,no high horsepower cars. just any car on street tires and 20 bucks.cheapest youll get anywhere. they run anything .cars, trucks, yes even bravadas, snowmobiles,go carts. perfect for driving there, have a bunch of runs a nd drive home.

Re: What track to go to?

Those tuesday days sound good. Right now after obtaining what I need to get the Camaro painted once and for all, I will try and get it painted and take it to the track to see what has my bolt on work have done. I am not expecting much but would be nice to have a starting point.

One downside is one of my friends I want to bring along thats a good third gen fan has school and wont be able to make those tuesday runs. Ohh well

Re: What track to go to?

You're best bet is to hop in with a private rental off a board or club. Most will accept anyone, but I prefer US 41, cordova, byron and great lakes dragway.

I will never go to RT 66 for a test and tune again. I paid $35 back in 2001 to watch all the big boys get preferential treatment.

Re: What track to go to?

I'd go to US 41 but its now called No Limits Raceway. I went there this last weekend for the first time and the people were awesome everyone was helping everyone try to be faster, with their engines, ect. really coll people there and its only $25 for you and your car so its not bad. Just becareful with using street tires they'll spin like crazy. XD learned that the hard way.

how many runs did you get in?

I was able to get in 8 runs at Byron two sunday's ago and I still left early because I couldn't see a reason to keep making runs with the PCM pulling 5* timing.

Almost went last sunday but decided not to.
