looking for shop to weld sfc. and install headers.

Anyone know a good place around chicagoland? called speed "inc out of schaumburg IL today and they made it clear they want nothing to do with my 3rd gen f body. Told me its out of there normal area of car. I know they work on a bunch of vettes. They said no for header install and told me they might be able to do sfc. At that point i was not going to have them touch it. So im still looking around. I know the guys over at iggys custom exhaust shop and have known them all for years. But ive notice them becoming sloppy and not listening to what you want done to YOUR car. ive just finished up on my intake upgrades in my spare time, porting, slp runners opened up,base. I just need to open up the exhaust and let her breath.

Re: looking for shop to weld sfc. and install headers.

Why not install the headers yourself?

If you can install them, and just need a shop to button up the exhaust Bridgeview Care Care in Tinley Park does good work. Paul's a car guy.

Once my car is up and running and I'm ready for a Y-pipe to be made I'll be taking my car there.

If you need some help with the install its not that hard. Most of us have done it before.

Heck, I've done it on 3 different cars, and if I counted all the times I've had them in/out on my own car that would be like 12 or 13 installs.

Re: looking for shop to weld sfc. and install headers.

I've done headers on my 87 years ago with basic hand tools. It was not all that bad just took me some time. From what a shop quoted me today I'm going to have them do the headers along with the sfc. Time is a factor. Autocross right around the corner.

That's really strange Speed Inc didn't wanna work on your car. I had them install my T/A differential cover a few days ago and they were pretty cool. They also quoted me at 160 to install my subframe connectors which I felt was a fair price.

Re: looking for shop to weld sfc. and install headers.

he cut a deal because he I helped him move. But normally for headers with y pipe its would be around the 500 dollar mark. But it of course depends on what kind of headers. shorty or long tubes.

I was asking more for a price on the subframe install. I want mine done soon and I just don't want to over pay.

Re: looking for shop to weld sfc. and install headers.

About two hours labor rate is going price for subframes assuming you already pulled the carpet up so it doesn't catch fire. So under 200 is typical. Some pay 100 some 150 etc
