Thirdgen Nationals '04
Thirdgen Nationals '04 idea
I know it's alittle early for this but I thought I'd throw it out there.
I know this is more of a "motorcycle" thing
but this is just an Idea

I am sure there is camping within the area, and maybe someone from the area can say if there is a track close by.
BTW I never been there, but I plan on going sometime this summer.

When we had the Thirdgen National Gathering in like 00 or 99 (can't remember) but it was held in Oklahoma I think, and it was weird, because it just meant EVERYONE felt it was too far to drive. Except the people close. But, I think we have grown a little beyond that. I think a more central location would work better. Probably lose a few from the East that aren't willing to make that drive, but gain a lot more from the west that are willing to drive 1,500 miles over 3,000 miles, on way.

Geeze, 50 cars? It was long ago and I didn't go.... too far of a drive for me when I was 17 and barely into the cars. I know somebody knows how many poeple where there. I know a group from Jersey went... Nate (who went) just told me they counted ~114 cars over the two days.

i think there would be some good places in southern illinois or indiana to do it, and it is closer to the middle but i am just excited about this years event, hope it will be a bit closer next time though!
You know Kansas is the geographical center of the nation.....
Anyway, if it's in the midwest, don't throw us in the middle of a bunch of cornfields.....
.....
It's gotta be in a major city.....

I vote for St. Louis!!
It is central, there are most likely campgrounds and fairgrounds all over the place, there is an NHRA track there, it is not in the cornfields, and it will give some people the opportunity to go west (or east) of the Mississippi River for the first time. The arch is there too. There are also river boats, and a lot of twisty highways for fun and entertainment. For the thrill seekers that want to leave the group, ther is a six flags there too.
Ohh, ohh, ohh, we could all park are cars somewhere near the arch, and get an ariel photo from the arch!!! Only problem would be finding a parking lot big enough and in view from the arch. (yes, that's a problem)...probably would have to park in Illinois for that to work out right.
Hmm, I might even be stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO next summer, now that I think about it.
I would still go anyways, even if I was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington (Seattle/Tacoma). I just don't have the cash for '03, and I already made plans for that weekend.

Well, if you are stationed in Seattle/Tacoma and plan to go you would deffinately have someone to caravan with!
However, St Louis is in no way central. It is still over 2,000 miles from where I live. 03 isn't much farther then that.

i think that having it around the dallas area would be great there is a nice 1/4 mile track around there (i think like whichata falls or close to) and its texas so there will be plenty of camp grounds to choose from and it wont cost very much. my .02
